Beautiful Slate Refrigerator

I first shopped for the brand. Reviews of competitors customer service did not rate well, either slow to respond or offshore representatives. GE seemed to rate the best when it came to service. Even the best of appliances may one day need servicing so this was important to me.
I then selected this slate refrigerator. It's beautiful! Some choose slate because of no fingerprints, I chose it because it looks good. Fingerprints or no fingerprints I would buy slate over stainless steel. The stainless steel handles are perfect as they allow you to introduce stainless accessories into
your decorating. I have a small kitchen and all stainless would have been too overpowering.

I got a chance to test out customer service a couple of days of owning the refrigerator. It was really noisy, I mean really noisy. After all my research on this model I was so disappointed. There was this loud noise that would go off every hour for about 5 seconds waking me up at night. I called customer service to schedule a repair. The girl answered right away, I explained the noises I was hearing and told her the refrigerator should not be so loud as I had not even hooked up the ice maker. She asked me if the ice maker was turned on. I opened the refrigerator door and duh, the setting was turned on for ice maker. She said the noises were from the machine trying to make ice. I turned that off and now have the quiet refrigerator I was expecting. It cycles between a light humming nose and complete silence. No complaints there.
Overall extremely pleased, I purchased the full suite of appliances, so happy designers at GE came up with slate.

My wife and I recently bought out first house. We had been window shopping appliances for some time in preparation for our redesigned kitchen. GE's Slate line gave us a great alternative to stainless steel with the same color palate. Most importantly, it feels and sounds like a quality product. The doors close and open easily. The product feels, sounds, and looks reliable. Our realtor and general contractor were reviewing the work in the kitchen. We noticed they were touching the surface and examining the handles. Both of them admired the Slate line. We consider that a big compliment.

Can one be in love with one's frig?

Yes, I am! We bought this particular model in Slate. Wonderful color to work with. Doesn't show fingerprints, easily wipes off inside and out. It's such a treat to be able to open the French doors and see everything right at hand. No hidden areas for sprouting those "scientific experiments". Good interior lighting in both the upper half and the freezer drawer.

Love the look

Had it for three months now and am very happy with it. The ice maker is a bit noisy when the water comes on and off but it makes ice very quickly.

Bought this for the slate finish, and for counter-depth. Lots of nice features, flexible shelving and drawers, great LED lighting. Water and ice inside, but without dispensers to always clean. Despite 23 cubic feet size, it doesnt seem that small. I lost 5 cubic feet going to this unit from my old one, but the loss of space is not that noticeable. Overall very pleased.

Bought this product (along with the matching microwave, stove and dishwasher) because it was the only counter-depth refrigerator in the slate color, which is so unique and beautiful. However, after only 3 months of use the refrigerator failed and was only cooling to 52 degrees. Thankfully, the warranty covered the repair, but the repair company cautioned us that they have had numerous system panel repairs on this exact refrigerator. Unfortunately, our product was repaired with yet another defective panel. We are buying a second refrigerator for a back-up since we are sitting on ticking time bomb.

Love the Slate

Very happy with the counter depth fridge. I am short so, it is great not having to reach so far back to reach items. We didn't loose any cubic feet of storage as this is wider than the original fridge. It also makes the kitchen not feel closed off since it doesn't stick out as far. The only thing I wish they had done is make the meat tray 2 drawers so you didn't have to open both to access the tray.

We finally remodeled our kitchen after 20+ years. My wife knew she didn't want a surface that she would be continuously wiping fingerprints off the appliances. She saw the GE Profile with a slate finish. Plus, we did not want a ice/water dispenser in the door, plus, she wanted a counter depth refrigerator. After installation we are tremendously pleased with how our kitchen looks with the appliances adding to the beauty. So far we have enjoyed the applicances and are very happy with the appearances.
