I bought a laptop and printer when I went back to college in 2004. The printer has outlasted 3 PCs and 3 Laptops. I have used it to electronicly document correspondence with the Veteran Affairs, numerous professional papers, and even homework with all my kids.(Even some friends as well)
When a copier went out at the school I emailed the document to my home PC, went and picked up the 40 copies, and returned to clas in less than 45 minutes.
Pros: reliable, Easy Setup, durable, Lightweight/Portable, easy to use
I would recommend this to a friend!

Very NIce Printer

As a general rule this has been one of the nicest printers we have owned & used. It seems like our color ink especially doesn't last too long and so far we've not been able to locate the high capacity cartridges for the printer. That being said, for our use it has been a great printer! We have been very pleased with the performance!
Pros: Easy Setup, easy to use, fast print speed, reliable
Cons: Large Footprint, High Ink Consumption

In it's 3rd year now and I would not trade it. I am very happy with the way it prints and scans. I have a small business and my invoices look great. I have never had a problem with it. The only draw back for me, If I want to scan opictures to my pc I need to change my printer settings. But I would not give up this product!
Cons: need to change printer setting when scanning to pc

Not bad while it lasted

This printer worked pretty well for 2-1/2 years, but then ran into major paper feed issues. It would grab multiple sheets at once and jam. So we started loading only one sheet, but eventually it got so it would not load the one sheet most of the time. It would complain about a jam without loading the paper even a little.
Prior to that, I was generally happy, except that ink usage seemed overly high, the output was not always aligned (despite going through alignment procedures), and the beginning of a print cycle (or resetting an error, like out of paper of paper jam--even when the jam was a non-feed situation) was often very slow.
Pros: Compact Design, Easy Setup, easy to use
Cons: Slow Print Speed, High Ink Consumption, unreliable, a record of paper feed issues (check the internet)
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Pleasantly surprized

I purchased my MP160 almost 2 years ago. I was moving from an exhausted 4 year old printer and outdated 5 year old scanner at the time. Right out of the box, I was very happy with how easy it was to install. I was able to start using all those neat features within minutes. About 6 months in, I developed a problem with a bad spot on the image receptor and contaced customer support via email. I was again surprised by how easy it was to have my problem resolved. The customer agent asked me a few questions, diagnosed the problem, and had a replacement unit shipped the same day. I received the new unit and was back in business in 3 days. I expected it would take weeks. I have not had one stitch of trouble since. My experience with Canon has made me a loyal customer. All my investigations to purchase products, include a high priority queston, "Does Canon make one?". Signed - One happy customer...
Pros: Easy Setup, easy to use, fast print speed, Sharp Tones & Colors
Cons: Large Footprint

Good Home Printer/Scanner/Copier
on February 26, 2009

This is a good home printer. Good size, and easy to set up. The scanner and copier also work very well. Print and images are clear and look great. I like that the top lifts to use as a copier, instead of just feeding it through the paper feeder. Color is excellent.
It is noisy though, when printing, there's a loud clunk when the paper first feeds through. A friend has the same printer, with the same noise, but she likes hers as well. Mine stopped working properly about a month ago, it lasted a little less than two years, it started pulling paper through at an angle, and jams, and no printing can be done now. We did not use it extensively, we were only on the third toner cartridge in 2 years. There is nothing stuck in it which I thought could be the reason for the problem. Although the paper feeder no longer works, the scanner still does. We may have it repaired, but have purchased another all-in-one until we can get that done.
Pros: Compact Design, Easy Setup, easy to use, fast print speed, Sharp Tones & Colors, scanner speed
Cons: noisy when printing begins, paper tray on front falls off easily
