OLED can suffer from "burn-in" screen damage
on October 17, 2017

During the period of the last Presidential Election season, I had my set tuned into CNN for long hours each day. Due to CNN's practice of constantly (except during commercials) displaying their large CNN banner across the bottom of the screen, I discovered that now, many, many months later, I still have that banner burned into my screen. There is no cure for this damage. I was aware of this problem with CRT monitors and TVs, but I failed to notice the cautionary mention of this issue in the Manual provided with my set. I ca see why gamers would be well advised to steer clear of this tech if they plan on using it to play hours of video games in lengthy sessions. I failed to realize until it was too late that any programing practices like those of CNN could cause irreparable harm to my investment. As a result, this set is no longer EVER tuned into any live or used to play any DVR programming from CNN. I will forever have a pale yellow ghost of that image with all my viewing.

Had a 55" LG 4K and thought the picture was the best until I bought the 55"OLED. Picture and color quality beat anything I've seen up till now. Yes, OLED is the only way to go now.--------Bill

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had this LG TV for 4 years now. I love the features and functions of my TV. However, a flawed power supply is not representative of a quality product. Power supply are simple and have been mastered for many years by electronic manufacturers

Best picture ever

You just can't beat OLED for picture quality, and LG is the only company currently selling these sets in the US. While they are expensive, this model offers a decent value if you can forgo 4K (which I don't think matters much at the 55 inch size. The TV does not look that great out of box, you need to take advantage of all the picture control settings in order to see satisfying results. There are many review sites on the internet that publish calibration settings for this TV, and they will get you close to that you want. Once it is set up correctly, the picture quality is stunning. Nothing else comes close. The black levels are particularly impressive, which only OLED can achieve because it does not require back ighting like LCD sets.

Best Picture Ever!

Three weeks in and I am still in awe of this television. Blows my Sony XBR850B out of the water and he Sony is a 4k tv. The 3D is far better on the EC9300 as well. The OS is still slow even with the 2.0 upgrade - but for picture quality and the amount of picture adjustments you can make - I still say its the best picture ever!

Excellent picture, very happy I bought this one

I did my research and read countless reviews and the OLED tech seemed to be the one I wanted for over a year. I saw a new 4k tv that looked great and had good reviews and realized the price was the same as this OLED (price has dropped) which I had wanted when it first came out, but couldn't justify the cost. Anyway, the picture quality is as good as reviewers said and I couldn't be happier. Watching TV is such a joy right now and I find I want to rewatch everything I have ever seen to see the difference. I had heard about the judder issues and I have not noticed that at all. There are times (very rare actually) when the picture losses the striking detail when the camera pans or moves, but that could just as easily be put down to a slowing of the internet and not the TV not having enough processing power. OLED is king! for blacks and contrast which I find to be the biggest difference in picture quality and the reason I bought this TV over all the others. It isn't perfect, but technology never is and I can live with the LG app store being just okay(every major app I wanted was preinstalled anyway so I don't use the App Store), or the remote has twice froze on me (have to turn TV off and wait a few seconds, or even take batteries out and then put back in), The TV sometimes will forget my calibrated settings on Expert picture mode--I don't know if it automatically does this if I press the sport mode or what but it has happened a couple of times and is kind of a hassle to put back. Anyway, still the best TV, by a wide margin, I have ever owned. I would highly recommend this product, and especially since the price has dropped to be competitive with all the 4k models.

Great TV and picture quality

OLED is great TV with great picture quality. It's the next best thing other than Plasma TV. It's only TV that black is black. Very thin, light and curve is not too obvious. It's come with 3D and it's work great. The TV apps need more update but overall its better then other curve TV out there. Highly recommend.
