XP-820 vs 810

So Far, I like the features of the little XP-820 after my Artisan 810 decided to have the sheet feeder clank and complain. I couldn't find a way to fix it so resorted to buying this one. Maybe someone at Epson will see this and care enough to contact me with a solution on the 810 since it prints great and works fine excepting the ADF.

EXCELLENT PRINTS

I have been printing some of my photos and the quality print that this XP-820 puts out is amazing.
It handles multiple types of media up to 8x10 and sets up pretty quickly. The only knocks I have are the price of the ink cartridges and the front panel seems to be a little loose. (in the design, not broken.) As an amateur photographer, I am extremely pleased with the output of this printer.
I would have purchased the XP-860 but the price for the extra 2 ink cartridges would have been prohibitive for me. Love the printer and would recommend!

First time we have had a printer that hooked up effortlessly on all devices and we had had several. Talk about user friendly. Engineering knew what they were doing. Way to go!!!!!! Got to love those engineers they have. Don't even need a book. Glad we have this one. It's a keeper.

CD Printing
on February 11, 2015

After a couple years of use my Epson Artisan 50 needed replacement.
Producing great looking CD's is critical to my business. The XP-820 does a beautiful job imprinting on CD blanks. Text is clear and sharp.
It would be great if you could print directly from graphic design apps like Illustrator, but the solution is to save your design as a JPEG and open that in the Epson Print CD app. Once you do, you'll be happy with the results so long as you're using good quality blanks. The JVC (Tayo Yuden) Watershield glossy blanks can give incredible results.

Good Printer. Great printing on CD/DVD's.

I bought this printer to replace a failed CD/DVD printer that did well over many years. My old printer was MFD, so I had to find a replacement. After research, I determined that this Epson XP-820 provided the best cost/benefit of all the CD/DVD printers currently available. It does a good job printing the CD/DVD's, although it is a little slow. This is great for small print jobs, but if you are looking for large quantity CD/DVD printing, I would look elsewhere. All-in-all, a very good printer.

The xp-820 is great so far BUT the price of the ink cartridge is way too high $$$$$$. Also when I registered my XP-820 with Epson they sent me a coupon that I thought I could use for ink cartridges but as it turned out it was only good toward a new copier. A lot of good that coupon did me. Makes no sense to me.

UN-BOXING AND SET-UP
on June 3, 2015

My review will be in two parts, first the un-boxing and setting up of the XP-820.
Unit was packed well and no outside damage in shipping. Everything was included that was supposed be. Everything was in top condition, this is a well built unit crying out QUALITY!
Set-up was smooth and uneventful, I am using an iMac with OSX Yosemitie, I went to the Epson website and downloaded all the necessary software and drivers and the install was quick and painless. Everything works like a charm. So far I am very pleased, more to follow after I've had a chance to put it to the test.
