just hooked this up but I can tell you that Epson does the best job and has the best software for designing and printing on cd and dvd's . I am replacing my old Epson that lasted a very long time. when I did need support ' Epson was very helpful.
I purchased a nice canon printer from sams club' hooked it up and found the dvd printing software to be horrible , so I returned it. . its more like designing a hallmark card than a dvd cover using templates.and checking into other brands of printers found that none seem to have good thought out software for the job. epsons software is like a dvd setting on a table, you can design text, pictures headers or whatever and move them on to the dvd or off to the side like a table. that is very useful if you save your job, then next time you want to print the same say header but change a pic or a text box you just slide one over onto your dvd or slide something off. I print a lot of dvd and cds so this was important to me. and by the way its the same , just updated software that they have had right along. if you go to the Epson printer software download you can download the print cd software , install and check it out. hope this helps someone that likes to print on printable dcds.

Glitchy setup on OSX 10.7.5

Glitchy setup on OSX 10.7.5. Loaded all choices. Simple USB connect to an iMac. Several error messages. Looks like driver didn't load or install?
Ran EPSON Software Updater, and several files downloaded, but didn't install.
Rebooted. That seemed to install the driver. Was then able to add the Epson printer to the printer list and make it the default. Seems to print OK.

Bad ink included

The ink cartridges that came in the box were not recognized by setup even tho we tried over and over, so tech support had to mail us new ones which worked perfectly. The printer paper drawers seem a little flimsy, so be very gentle with them. The wireless printing setup did not go smoothly, but we downloaded the product user guide and that contained the information that we needed to complete the wireless setup and now it works Great. The printer does a wonderful job on photos and text. Now that the pain of setup is done, we are very happy with this printer.

XP 820 works like a charm

This printer was purchased and set up ready to go almost inside fifteen minutes. Some intuitive pieces on the very basic set up sheet were needed, ie, press initiation after ink is installed. There was no mention of the flat cd rom plastic sheet that fell out of the bottom of the printer, or how to use it on the enclosed paperwork. The ink cartridge description shows 3 caps: my ink has only one on each cartridge. Overall, a great and easy install with nice display, nice options, and a breeze to connect to my Optimum wireless!

Good, except . . .

This is a nice, compact multi-function printer/copier/scanner/fax. We like the wireless capabilities. One big problem involves ink cartridges: First, they run out of ink way too fast - even the higher capacity cartridges. Second, it is very challenging to replace a cartridge and have the machine accept it. It often takes many attempts - inserting the new cartridge over and over before it is "accepted." I usually have to power the machine off and on several times in addition to putting the cartridge in and out many times. Very frustrating.

Manual

The printer appears to function well. However the online manual leaves a LOT to be desired. Using the printer is mostly trial and error. Printing a picture was fraught with anxiety. On my old Epsons mostly Artisans, you could choose from text, text and picture, picture, along with a choice of paper types from regular to photographic with several types of photographic paper. This however was not as straight forward on this printer. It was a matter of crossing your fingers and praying. I hope that the heads don't become clogged on this printer, as that was the reason for the demise of the artisans (4). I think I have had a total of about ten or eleven Epson printers so I guess there is a pattern here.

Excellent printer, easy to setup, fast printing, and excellent picture printing, great color, and sharp images. I must admit I am a fan of Epson printers. I was in an office when another brand of new printer was acting up when the operator said that the company had a great phone help line. My answer was that I had nothing but Epson printers and have never had to make a call for help.

Great All-in-One with FAX and CD/DVD/BD Printing!

I recently purchased this MFC to replace an aging Epson Artisan 835. The Epson Expression Premium XP-820 is quieter and has all the same features in a compact easy to use size. However, disc printing is little different. Instead of a disc tray already in the machine, you have to insert and remove a tray that fits into the bottom of the machine when not in use. Other than that, the quality is a bit better than the Artisan series. Ink cost is also about the same. The Wi-Fi set-up is fast and almost automatic!
