Setup critique

Ink cartridge installation was misleading. On "Start Here" guide seems to indicate not to press cartridge. (The "not" diagram paired with the "press" picture.) The initialization error screen led me to think the cartridges were out of sequence, not missing due to my failure to lock them into place so electrical connection would be made. The diagram on installation could be improved by having the chart replaced by a diagram similar to ink holder and marked to show missing or wrong cartridge. I hope the cartridges are are keyed to prevent misplacement. I have been pleased with a series of Epsons since days of ribbon printers.
This XP-820 replaces R200 due to features, not failure of old unit. ->Crafty

Use it a lot to print pictures. Does a great job.
Also like the scan features as you drop your papers on the tray and make your selections on the screen and you are done, one page or many.
Scan in many formats too.
Great macnine.

Very reliable

The colors are vibrant, the noise is reasonable. It never loses the connection. The pixelation (for lack of a better term) is really great...nice and clear...rarely if ever any flaws on the print. It is the most reliable printer in my home. I have had it for several years now and if, God forbid, I had to, I would buy another.

I use this printer all the time I have it set up on wifi and my wife uses it with i-pad - and my grand children use it with their smart phones. I really like the fact that the tray comes out my itself when being used remotely.

A Good Quality All-in-One Printer

The XP-820 All-in-One printer is a very nice printer for the price. It has all of the features that I was looking for, especially the ability to print directly onto CDs and DVDs.
There is a learning curve for me to be able to utilize all of it's features. I would recommend this printer to others looking for a nice printer with a low cost up front.
I must say however, this printer uses a lot of ink very quickly. If this won't be a problem, get it and use it to your advantage.

Initial ( 2 month review ).

Dear Epson Manufacturer. I replaced my 'old' epson xp 810, because I dropped the copy lid, then a LCD display came up: fatal error has occurred, contact Epson. No one at Epson could or would help me, it was out of warranty.
I like my new Epson XP 820. All functions work well. Initially there was a problem , the printer would not print an envelope, # 10, neither from cassette #2, nor from the rear paper feed slot.
Called Epson, first talked to person with a very heavy Indian accent, he gave up helping me, transferred me to a specialist. Within 5 minutes he showed what to do: go to Properties tab; 1:click envelope for paper settings. 2: click always use driver from envelope setting. Hope this may help others.
I have made many photos, they look very good. Perhaps the overall color is a little strong, but you can reduce that in photo editing program, before printing. The ink usage does not seem to go as fast as some other reviewers claim. Hope my XP 820 will continue to work well.
