Nice, but leaks

The unit is indeed smaller than most. It scans well; it copies well; it prints beautiful photographs--but it leaks black ink. The leak isn't terrible, but there are often small blobs of ink on photos and little drips on pages. Otherwise a super printer.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

scan mess

Bought printer because Consumer Reports said it made great color photo copies. BUT, it is really bad on scanning. Tried to scan from printer; oops, sorry not connected to computer. But it would work if directions came from computer. Ohm wait, scan of one page was broken up into five parts and sent to a folder. Wait, what folder? Still cannot figure out how to scan one page. Now it asks for paper to be loaded?? What is that about?
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Printer will cosume ink like crasy

I have replace the black ink cartridge 2 times in less than a month and I have just printed les than 50 pages, nice printer, nice features, but it will bankrupt you in just buying ink for it.
not very happy Epson used to make better products than this one.

Good printer

Bought this printer primarily for photo printing. Not totally satisfied yet with photos. Printer seems to print dark. This could be due to my inexperience with printer though. Do not like the way paper drawers are situated in relation to control panel. If I run out of paper in middle of a job, I must retract control panel in order to easily add paper. Also easy to accidentally dislodge small photo tray (which sits above large paper tray) when filling large tray. These are annoyances & I can deal with them. Printer is fairly quiet, makes crisp clear prints. & I really like the separate color cartridges for ink. I would recommend this printer, but warn purchasers about things which annoyed me.

Epson Expression Premium XP-820

Great printer, easy to install and setup. Had an Artisan 810 that worked great for a few years then it stopped printing black ink. Tried everything to get it working again but never could. Finally this XP-820 is a great replacement and it's lighter and has a smaller footprint. Very, very pleased with it. It also has both a regular black ink and a photo black ink which we've yet to used but nice to have. Black and white printing is quick once the initial first page has printed. I read prior reviews that the paper holder was cumbersome to load/reload paper, but I did not find that to be a problem at all.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Nice photos from the XP-820

The XP-820 is really a very nice printer. I especially like the multiple color cartridges, they give really nice color to your prints. Wireless printing is a nice feature, makes for convenient printing and the set-up was nearly automatic. It's nice not to have to take the lap top to the printer.
I did have some initial trouble with print quality, but a call to tech support solved the problem. Turned out it was a software problem with my computer. I am looking forward to printing out some of my favorite photos.
I have also done a couple of scans. They came out well, good quality files with good detail.
I like this printer. I expect to find more to like as I get use to it.
