This printer has many performance enhancements over the Artisan model I replaced. It is smaller, better and has improved paper handling performance. I like the way the paper cassettes center small sized sheets and envelopes so you don't have to guess where the image is going to go. The print quality is great with one less cartridge.

Instructions Poor

In trying to copy a small pamphlet that is 14 pages long in a small book format, it was impossible to find directions on which way to face the pages to make them come out "right side up" when done copying and assembling using 2 side printing. Epson should have this sort of information readily available and easy to find. Not everyone is familiar with the facing problems. When copying both sides full size no problem, but try doing it to make a small pamphlet and waste a lot of ink figuring it out.

Great home unit. Initial set would have been easy if the set-up ink sent with the unit had worked. Had to wait another week for new set-up ink to be sent before I could use the printer. Other than that all is good.

This is the fourth Epson printer that I have bougt and this printer( though small ) is by far the best printer I have ever bought . The colores are very crisp . It seems to be using less ink than my XP800. I only wish that the Epson ink not cost so much

Easiest Install

I replaced my beloved Artisan all-in-one with this XP820, after my son recommended the XP810 (the previous version). So far, I am very impressed; the price is right, the product isn't massive and best of all, the installation was extremely painless and totally idiot proof. The color output on default is great (one reason why I stick with Epson). Thanks for such a useful product!

I promised myself that when I retired I would store my paperwork and old photos on the computer. For this, the 820 is working perfectly. It is compact enough to fit on the top of a small filing cabinet. It auto feeds and scans both sides of my documents. For old photos of different sizes I can get the same size image. I'm not very technical so it did take some trial and error (and in the case of two-sided scanning, a call to customer service) to figure some things out. On the other hand, the wireless set-up was super-easy and the touch-screen is simple to use. There are things I want to do but haven't tried yet, like mitigating the fade-to-pink problem with old color prints. I easily printed new photos and am very satisfied with the color. Regular printing is fast and fine also. I appreciate the paper saved with its ability to print two-sided. Two months into my 820 I'm happy that I chose it over the several others that I researched.
