Bad Experience

Six years old and not working. Repair man said best option is to buy a new fridge. Control board continually go out, compressor is now gone also. Will not purchase GE apliances in the future.

Water freezes in the door, ice clumps up in the ice tray, runs all the time and we have only had it for a year. Dealer said it happens all the time. GREAT!

Poor design

Evaporator freezes and causes an extremely unpleasant loud whine. There is no fix for this design problem. Twice per year we unplug refer for a day to melt the blockage.
Water dispenser freezes in Fall-Winter-Spring...unbelievable. Dispenser only works during summer. There is no fix for this. Design problem.

Do not like a side by side with water/ice dispensed

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This fridge was in the home I recently purchased. While I do not like a side by side it was simpler to buy it from the former owners than replace. The water dispenser has frozen up & I understand that it happened before on this fridge that is only 5 years old. UGH. To remedy the situation a "heater" had to be replaced....yep you heard me correctly...a heater in the water dispenser.

This GE broke in 3 years

Unfortunately my refrigerator GE broke in 3 years and 9 months. I’m very upset because I bought GE for my refrigerator and dishwasher. Refrigerator is supposed to last 10 years or more. I moved to Brazil and here they don’t fix it.

Held up 16 years!

My GE finally died at 16 yrs old. Replaced 3 thermostats last yr by watching a few hours of YouTube videos. Lots of power outages in our area over the yrs & the final one probably killed it - won't turn back on/reset. Will be plugging new fridge into a surge protector. My only complaint was the angle the doors opened, and I see the new ones are still like this. Sticking with GE to match the other appliances, but miss that the new ones have less features like 2 humidy-controlled crisper drawers & only some have 3rd deli drawer. :-(

This refrigerator is terrible. It’s embarrassment to the general electric corporation. I’ve replaced a defrost element five times and every temperature sensor, both boards, ice dispenser and thermostat, should’ve trashed it and just bought a new refrigerator. I have owned over 10 GE refrigerators in my lifetime for different homes, and this is definitely by far the worst, I’ve been loyal to GE my entire life, but sadly I will not be looking for a General Electric for a replacement for the quality just isn’t there anymore. The worst part is this refrigerator was made in Lexington Kentucky, USA. I always like to buy American for America but sadly I’m looking for something more reliable than GE. Never Thought I’d even consider it. 🤬
