Microwave function dropped dead

Bought in 2010, but for a summer vacation home where it gets light use for only two months a year, so its actual age at death last Fall was about 14 months at most. We were going to call our excellent repairman but, according to the reviews, the problem is most likely the magnetron and a replacement will also fail in a short time, so we'll have to spring for purchase and installation of new micro-convection, which very definitely will NOT be a Whirlpool.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

beeps and runs on its own

We are having the same problems as mentioned by others. We bought this Whirlpool microwave (GH7208XRB-2) in April 2009. From what others posted, it has a lifespan of about 8 years, which is what we got out of it. In the early part of 2018 the control panel started periodically beeping through the on-screen instructions on its own with no one in the room. About 2-3 months ago (March 2019) it starting turning on (on its own). This week it stopped operating all together. We bought the unit because it had a convection oven along with the microwave, paying more than we wanted, but expecting it to last because we thought it was a high end product that would last with a good manufacturer name behind it. We were wrong. From what I understand, they discontinued the product because of all the problems and will not even sell parts for it because of the problems.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Loved Microwave until F9 message appeared

I have been very happy with thei microwave until the key pad stopped working and I receive F9.Q communication message on the screen. I have to unplug and reset it several times a day now which I think indicates it will soon stop all together. Other reviewers have written that parts are no longer available or the cost would be more than a new microwave. Whirlpool, please help!

No Problems for Eleven Years

And this put in my new construction over 11 years ago. Functions well just as advertised. No problems at all until the magnetron went out yesterday. Going to have it serviced to and plan on keeping it for another 11 years.
I would recommend this to a friend!
