saddled with it by previous home owners

While this microwave has many great features, the design is flawed and these issues overwhelm the benefits. Mounting a touch screen design over a cooktop is a recipe for disaster. Half the time the buttons don't work and the othe the microwave keeps trying to self start a defrost cycle. Or it randomly adds time to an ongoing timer. So we have to keep it locked constantly, which defeats the convenience of any of the built in short cuts. We totally understand now why the previous owners wanted nothing to do with it.

The microwave came with the house. I've had to replace the handle on it 3 times. This last time, the plastic bits started shattering, breaking, flaking, and crumbling. I've decided to replace the microwave entirely. it's not worth it. total pile of garbage.

I have had this microwave for many years now. The only thing I don't like is that moisture sometimes gets inside the door, in between the glass when I am cooking on the cook top. It is my fault because I am not paying attention as I should and should turn up the power of the exhaust. The exhaust fan is very powerful and is pretty loud on high. The noise is worth the power. The light for the stove top is bright and has several levels of brightness. These things have worked flawlessly. I don't have any problems with the controls. I have grilled with it and the food turned out very good. I have also used the steam "dish" that comes with it and it works great. I have not used the convection really, but should really try out all it capabilities. I love that it is so big inside. The microwave is powerful. It is great for defrosting meat and does an excellent job of thawing chicken and ground beef without it burning the edges. Great with popcorn too although one time it burned the popcorn. Hate that smell. Boiled vinegar and water in it to help and it did. I am not sure they make these any more, but I would buy another one if for some reason we moved. I would not want to do without it or my induction cook top. I love them both.

This microwave came with the house when I bought it. Up until now, it has done an amazing job with just about everything I need to do. For some reason, which I still can not figure out why NOR has Whirlpool assistance been able to help me in the least bit, there is a T9 communications error.... I am constantly unplugging and pugging it back in. The touch screen lights flash on and off...
Anyone know what is wrong here!! Need answers, preferably from someone from Whirlpool.....

I have loved this microwave for over 10 years! It is just starting to have the issues some of you describe (screen going off and on) and the handle just broke for the FIRST time. Hoping to get it fixed and keep it another 10 years! Even if I can't get it fixed, great value for over 10 years!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought about 3 weeks ago and love just the little bit we've learned so far and it's a lot. The bacon feature truly does cook it to perfection. Things heat up so much quicker and hotter then a normal microwave.

Wont last a year after purchase

We bought it in Feb. October it went out with the troubleshooting code F7. The lady at the warrenty line says there is no such code and that we are making it up. After arguing for over 30 minutes, they agree to send someone out. Repairman comes out and unplugs it and plugs it back in. He says there is nothing wrong. The next month when he had to come out again because it was not working, he couldn't figure out what was wrong and said he had to order parts. January we call him again asking where he was, and he said the parts just came in. He is busy until the end of the month. We schedule a date at the end of January when he can come. He stands us up and wont return our call for 2 weeks. We call Whirlpool back and tell them this is unacceptable. They tell us too bad, we are outside of our 1 year factory warrenty so we can buy an extended warrenty for $279 and they will fix it. Otherwise it is on us. All around a miserable experienece. So for the last 8 months we have been using our countertop microwave from a different manufacturer and had no issues.

It's hard to find a microwave that is 1100-1200 watts; that is why I bought this one. There are so many features on this microwave that I never use and the feature buttons are hard to read. The second time I used my convection oven, it blew an internal fuse so I had to have someone come out. While he was fixing it, I asked him why the microwave is so loud....it sounds like something is rolling around the plate inside. He said I needed a new turntable motor so I had to schedule another appointment for that and it was only 2 months old. Another problem I am having is using my presto pop popcorn maker. I can make the first batch just fine but when I go to make a second batch, It won't pop at all. I found out I have to let the bowl cool off completely before it will pop the popcorn. This is the only microwave that this happens to. I've been using a presto pop popcorn maker for over 12 years...almost every night so this is quit frustrating. Why can't they make microwaves like they used to years ago. They had very few features and they lived much longer.
