I had great experience with a GE Refrigerator we bought when we first got married in 1951 and had for over 40 years but had to give it up because I could not get a door gasket for it.

A good basic fridge

I needed to fit a smaller space than most modern fridges fit, so this was the best option. The interior shelves are easy to move and clean, and you can set them up to fit large items. The door bins are not as well designed - there is only enough room to have one shelf that will fit a gallon of milk if you want to be able to get anything in or out of the other bins. The other problem is the vegetable/fruit drawers are made of a very fragile plastic. I have had this appliance for only 6 months and I've already had to replace 2 broken drawers, and the replacements are already cracking. On the plus side, it is easy to clean, works quietly and efficiently, and the freezer doesn't get frosted up.

Freezer on the bottom

It was a forced purchase. Didn't have time to shop. However I love my refrigerator! The freezer on the bottom is a nice feature; however I would prefer it to have more space. A redesign should be considered. And if you close the freezer and then try to open the refrigerator door sometimes it causes a vacuum effect and the door is hard to open. These are all things you can live with.

OVERALL A GOOD PRODUCT

I've owned my GE fridge for a couple of months now and I am still not used to the bottom freezer, but the fridge in your face design makes up for it. And although the icemaker makes plenty of ice in a short amount of time, when the water refills the tray it is so loud that it scares my cats.

I like the heavy quality of the door and the closure of the freezer. Wish I had purchashed a different one as the freezer space is so small and has no divider in the basket. Things fall out the back of basket and you can't stack anything. I thought the bottom freezer would be an awesome feature but it is not.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

like the product except for the noises it makes. Probably when the motor comes on. Sometimes it is a loud "shudder". Sometimes a click. Most of the time there is no unusual noise, so it is hard to have someone to come and listen. Doesn't even happen every day.
