I've had the phone for over a year now. My impression: Fantastic!! The 820 was not my first choice. I was eyeing the 920. However, since purchasing two phones was on the agenda, I opted for the 820 instead. I don't regret it!! What do I love about the phone?? The interchangeable shells. What a nice feature! Just wish more than four colors were available. Even though the screen is not HD, it is more than acceptable! Only the spec crazy would complain. The average person would be more than satisfied. The mini sd card slot is welcomed. Ohhh, the phone operating system is buttery smooth!! The 820 is clearly a winner.

Fantastic all-round phone

Cannot recommend this phone highly enough. I started with a Lumia 800, then upgraded to the 820.
Well built with interchangeable covers, removable battery and SD slot. The camera is great too, especially video recording.
The only complaint I have is the battery life which could be better.
Overall, A fantastic phone at a reasonable price.

People always run for iphone or sumsung. Please tell me what those phones can do more than Nokia lumia 820. Other than finger print scan [anyway we are not law enforcement agency that we need a finger print]. I would say it a great phone and very easy to use and has very very affordable price.

Excellent phone for its money

Bought this phone in May of this year and since then I'm absolutely satified. The weakest side is, of course, the battery. It could be a bit larger so the phone could be used for at least a full day, but since I almost always have a computer nearby and a USB cable to charge it it's not a big problem for me.
Display is great. AMOLED technology provides beautiful natural colors and a deep black. Camera is fantastic. Even if it has only 8MP, taken pictures are clear. Also it lets you record videos in 1080p at 30 fps which is really cool. Performance is also at a decent level. Navigating the system's menus and non-3D apps is a pleasure. It runs very smooth, no lags, stuttering or any of such stuff. I definitely recommed this phone. It deserves its price. :)

The jack of all trades, fast processor, great camera, solid build, memory and battery expansion/charge options. Gives the best punch for the price and next to the lumia 920 in style and performance.

I did take a point off on the features score for the lack of Gorilla Glass. That said, the device is like a reliable low maintenance tough car. I've mistreated this device as if I hated it, and it has earned my respect. The allowance for a micro-SD card is a life-saver. The precision of sensors, including the 8mp Carl-Zeiss camera allows me to put othher brands to shame. And if an app that is available for other OS's is not available, there sure is an unoficial version to deal with it.
What have I done with it? I skip traffic jams with awesome navigation tools. I video-chat with my folks a quarter world away. Heck! I've written about 20% of my first book right on it. Not to mention the everyday email, texting, call, etc..
