Major design flaw

There is a major design flaw on almost all Kitchenaid gas cooktops.
The sand on top where you sit your pots is too high up from the flame. The stand should be low to allow the flame direct touching the pot for optimum heat transfer and efficiency. Instead, if your pot sits too high and the flame is not touching. It's the flame heating up the air and radiate heat going to pot. Not only it's not efficient, waste your energy, the massive amount of burning heat is heating up air and run away upwards. The how air will heat the range fan above extremely hot in some situation. My range fan/microwave comble unit's handle will get so hot that burns my hand. Very dangerous.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Oven Caught on Fire

This baby can cook!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this gas range after the electronics in my Maytag electric glass top range went kaput after 17 years. The gas burners are wonderful. Water can be boiled in a matter of a few minutes. The stove top is easy to clean with the lift-off grates. Being a single person, I use the baking drawer ALOT instead of the regular oven, which saves energy. Keep in mind the banking drawer height is low, so only cookie sheets and 8x8 or 9x13 baking dishes will fit. The only negative so far is that the oven and baking drawer take way too long to preheat. That is disappointing. So I only give 4 stars for performance.

Not childproof at all! Very dangerous for kids/pet

Not childproof at all!!!! The metal around the knobs doesn’t allow for any type of childproofing. The lock on the keypad is easily turned off by the cat jumping up- he has started the oven numerous times. Tried to call customer service got no where! Great stove if you do not have kids or pets
