AquaLift Self Clean Does Not Work

I bought this stove last August together with a complete set of KitchenAid appliances for a kitchen remodel. I love cooking on this stove. The burners give you great power and control. Also the look of the stove is great. The MAJOR disappointment is the AquaLift self-cleaning system. Simply put, it does not work. I follow the instructions to the letter and at the end of the cycle there is some improvement on the oven floor but it does nothing to remove baked on grease and grime from the oven door and walls. It is basically useless and does not function as advertised.

exactly what I wanted

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] this range is EXACTLY what I was looking for, and here is why: I cook every night, and love the idea of a commercial cooktop. But I also bake, and the oven on the commercial range is small. This particular model range gives you the gas power of a commercial cooktop (largest burner runs at 19k BTU which is huge) and the LARGE oven capacity. Im really glad I researched. I got the range I really wanted. And I didnt have to remodel my kitchen. 5 stars.

The Cook Loves This Range

We chose KA appliances for the kitchen in our new home. They have been installed for approximately 3 months, though I have only been cooking on the range for 1 week, since we have just started living in the house full time. I am a cooking enthusiast and bread baker. I have cooked on all 5 stovetop burners, to verify performance/confidence testing, including using the griddle accessory. We also purchased the wok ring, though I have not used it yet. A nice feature to have, as I do use a round bottom and a flat bottom wok frequently. In my previous home, I had a much more expensive professional cooktop, which I was happy with. When we built this home, we lived in our weekend place, which had a 30" range (from another manufacturer) and I found it to be better than adequate, thus. deciding the excess and cost of the larger range was not necessary. We also have a KA counter depth French door Refrigerator, a trash compactor and dishwasher. We built this home with Made in America products [as much as possible]. Love those ‘America’ badges on the appliances. For the bread baking, I have made Beautiful Burger Buns (KAF), using the oven proof cycle for 2nd rise. I did find the bake time was a bit longer than in my other gas convection oven. Worked well-be sure to cover your levains with plastic wrap, rather than a tea towel, to prevent drying. The heat of Proof feature is low enough to use plastic wrap. For my second bread-Sourdough, baked in a Dutch oven. Fantastic result! Same time to bake as in my other gas range oven. 450deg for 40 minutes, covered, then 10 minutes additional with lid off. I used the baking drawer to keep a casserole warm during cocktail hour and found the drawer to be very useful. It is low profile for low side baking dishes/pans. Do a fit check with your pans before use. I am ok with the cleaning feature, which does not use excessive fuel/heat. I tend to cook clean and use an outdoor grill and smoker for spattering type foods. Wiping the oven interior after use keeps it easy clean, while food spatter hasn’t baked on too much. Three things I would like to have capability for: 1. Double burner for wok cooking, which my husband thinks modification of existing high output burner may be possible. 2. A lid for the griddle, to be used to contain heat and enhance melt when making stuffed French toast or grilled cheese. I grill mine open face, then stack to serve. 3. WiFi probe and timer alert.
All things considered, I am glad we chose this range. Great value and performance!

Steam feature

I love my new range, but wish there was some guidance on using the steam feature. I’m unsure which foods would best benefit from this. I wish there was an cook book that went with the oven. It also seems to take a long time to heat up, but I think that may be due to the fact that I use propane.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had a dual fuel range previously but recently got an all gas range. It is different than the dual fuel but I’m getting use to it. It is a beautiful range and looks high end. My center burner is really nice since it is oval and the grill plate gets more heat than my dual fuel did with the small round burner. Kitchenaid is my go to on appliances and Whirlpool is an awesome company. I highly recommend them.

Not happy

Verified Purchase:No
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] 1. The baking drawer does not have a tight seal when closing it and often remains slightly ajar. Had service out and was told it may be a fault with the tracking system because it wasn't the first time he'd heard it. Feel there is loss of heat. Should be a tighter seal. Closes like a regular drawer. 2. The top left element has parts that slide off very easily...not sure why it's different than the others. When wiping, it just topples off. 3. Grates are super big and while moving to wipe have already caused scratches. The black coating is already looking worn and grey and I am hardly using the stove as it's so delicate...am continuing to use my basement stove. 4. Used a copper bottom pot that I always used on my previous gas stove and got a large copper burn mark on the stainless. When I called was told it is written in the manual. Would never have guessed. Looks awful. 5. Every time I wipe it...some function button beeps. 6. The individual elements stain very easily and cannot be cleaned.

I bought this gas range KSGB900ESS ser # R55015622 12-29-15. The top of the oven door is peeling. This was an expensive range and this should not happen. I clean the range with afresh and micro fiber cloths.

I purchased this range 3 years ago while doing a complete kitchen remodel. I tried the self clean and it does not self clean. After following instructions to the letter, the oven was not clean. After a few months the fan for the oven unit would not work. With the fan not working the oven would not work. Now 3 years later will baking the oven started clicking on and off and will not work. With my dinner half cooked. For the money paid you should be able to have an appliance for longer than 3 years before calling for repairs. I have had to call twice.
