I like the smoky color of the ice scoop; however, it isn't as sturdy as the old white scoop and even more ice slides out the sides when using. The added option for more ice production during a specific period should come in handy.

Only drawbacks, as mentioned by other reviewers, are the noise, and also the ice seems very "wet",and I'd prefer to have a recessed door opener design rather than the handle that sticks out. However, we are pleased overall.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had been using a Whirlpool ice maker for about 22 years before it finally gave out right before Christmas. We were having family over and needed a replacement very quickly. Our family has come to expect that we will have "good ice" for our gatherings and I couldn't let them down. I had read a lot of reviews and decided this would be a worthy replacement for our old unit. Luckily an appliance store near us had one in stock. We couldn't be happier. The build quality is top notch and the unit looks great in our kitchen. It's a lot quieter than the old unit and I have to believe it's more energy efficient than the unit it replaced. On Christmas Day we took advantage of the continuous ice production mode and we never ran out of ice. For normal use, the ice maker keeps a ready supply. I also like the integrated water filter and the automatic cleaning mode (haven't used that yet). Overall I am extremely pleased with this unit. I can only hope it will last as long as the unit it replaced.
