Love my new range

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love my new range. The oven heats up so fast. I love that the preheat setting shows me the oven temp so I know about how much longer it will be before the oven is ready for me to put the food in the oven. I just wish that there was an owner’s manual that told me about the oven and all that it does. That would have been most helpful.

Safety Concern

I really beleive their is a safety issue with this range. If you turn the burner knobs past approximately 1/8 of a turn, the igniter will stop clicking and the range just discharges gas into the house until someone realizes it. I sent this information to Kitchen Aid and they said I just need to get child safety locks. You can turn the burner knobs on my other ranges and the ingniter stays on until fire is detected no matter where the knob is turned to. You would think this is required from a sefety standpoint. For this reason, I cannot recomend this range.

poor quality

When we bought our townhome, we had a choice of Kitchenaid or whirlpool appliances. I am happy with everything but the range. When I found out the ' self cleaning' was aqua lift, I read the reviews and found all negative ones, that no one liked it and there is a pending lawsuit. I tried to get credit so I could get a real self cleaning oven, one where you push a button and it cleans by itself. Unfortunately, I'm stuck with the Kitchenaid range. The enamel on the inside is very thin, and it's already chipped from pulling the grates in and out. I rarely use the oven because I don't want to manually clean it. The oven isn't insulated very well, and when it's turned on the outside door and drawer are extremely hot. I've accidentally turned on the flames when I reached to clean the top of the range. I almost burned my shirt. The grates are very heavy to lift out to clean. I had Kitchenaid wall ovens in my previous house and was very happy with them. I always felt Kitchenaid had the top of the line appliances and extremely disappointed in this range. I would NEVER buy it again. This range is only for people who don't cook.

Leaks Gas

Bought this stove 6 months ago and it leaks gas. Twice in past 6 months the burner was on without a flame, which I thought was unusual, but last night at 3 in the morning I could smell gas and went downstairs to investigate and found my whole downstairs filled with gas. Somehow, I think the flame is going out while on a low setting and then not noticed and gas is flowing. I have had many gas stoves (kitchenaid as well) and have never seen a problem like this. I think this is a design problem. Very dangerous. I will be calling for service and see what if anything can be done.

Terrible - rust spots everywhere

Stopped Working After Warranty Expired

I liked this range, except that it completely stopped working exactly ONE DAY after the warranty expired. It just went completely dead. Do not buy this range. In fact, don't buy KitchenAid. They are unreliable.

Automatically turns on!

We bought this range because it’s a gas stove top, but we’ve noticed that the range turns on with a light tap as you walk by, which creates a gas leak! If the controls were on the top instead of the front side it would be a much safer range. Also the oven will turn on any time you try to clean the surface because the glass touchscreen is so sensitive. Very poor design for such a simple task. self-clean feature also doesn’t really work as it should, you still have to manually scrub.
