Terrible grate design- very unhappy customer

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased $7,000 in KitchenAid appliances including this range. The small center burner does not have sufficient support for a small sauté pan making wiggle and not balanced.
Even worse, when using the front burners, the heat reaches the microwave handle which makes it really hot to open. Need a hot pad holder just to open it. Microwave should have push button for this design.
The bottom storage drawer seems to have low quality and not sturdy.
Interlocking grates are also heavy and cumbersome. Perhaps should have 3 grates instead of 2.

I have waited 23 years to have new gas ovens. Our electric ovens finally gave out so we switched to gas. I loved the look of the kitchen aide stoves as soon as I saw them. We had bought a kitchen aide fridge 5 years ago and loved it so it was a no brained to buy kitchen aide stoves. We needed two stoves and had a budget. These fit in perfectly. I was so excited to bake all day long last week for my son and his roommates at college. Banana bread, pumpkin muffin and chocolate chip cookies. Everything came out perfect. Didn't have to worry about even heat or over baking them. I'm a happy cook again and my hubby is happy because he is being fed his favorite foods again.

I had a maytag that never worked when I purchased it. So I swapped it out and got this kitchen aid range. I've never owned a major appliance of kitchen aid before. I do however own kitchen aid stand mixer and hand mixer. So I was curious to see if this range was as great and dependable as my small appliances. And it hasn't disappointed me!! I love this range and can't say enough about it!! I haven't experienced anything that I could say that I thought needed to be changed on it. It has plenty of room in the oven. I cooked my 24lb turkey,my dressing, and my sweet potato casserole all at the same time! Love this range! If you're on the fence about it don't be it's a great purchase

Looks Nice, but could have quality issues

I purchased this as a set of Kitchen Aid appliances for my new home. I've used the range and oven for less than a month and have had quality issues from the start. While unrelated, I had to get my Whirlpool branded microwave replaced within the month and now the range is also defective. The display board randomly shuts off making the oven unusable. This is potentially an issue with the soldering of the wires between the electronic control board and the display board. Initially the oven would work, however the display would shut off and not allow me to utilize the oven. This sometimes happened after the preheat cycle or after just using the range. Currently, the oven is completely unusable. This made my housewarming party difficult as I was not able to serve the baked dishes I was planning to serve.
I am very disappointed in the quality with Kitchen Aid/Whirlpool with 2 out of 4 brand new kitchen appliances being defective. and glad that I did purchase and extended warranty.

This is a very dangerous product

I bought this stove and I ended up having OCD. The stove is good but the knobs will turn on even if you pass by them from distance and releases gas. I contacted the Kitchen Aid; they are not concerned about it. My answer was that you need to be careful. I have documented all my correspondence with them. I can’t believe that a product as expensive as that to be so unsafe and hazardous. Fortunately, I don’t have kids and don’t cook a lot. But I have to check all the knobs at least 30 times a day which many times I found them they are slightly open. The worst customer service I have ever experienced.

We're sorry for your frustrations Soheila. You will need to use caution from accidentally turning the knobs if you are brushing up against them.

Poor design/performance overall

I bought this in 2017 when having the kitchen remodeled and should have reviewed a long while ago. The range has been a total disappointment. Today I cleaned the oven and my continued frustration with the self cleaning feature prompted me to finally sit down to write.
1) Aqualift does NOT clean or even loosen baked on soil. I usually run it through 3 cycles, use lots of elbow grease, and still do not get great results. Far inferior to other ovens I have used.I take very good care of the appliance and do not wait for a build up before cleaning and it is always a very frustrating task.
2) Oven does not bake evenly. I have to watch carefully and rotate everything I bake, otherwise items in the rear get overdone. Have not had this experience in 40+ years of cooking with other ranges. Oven is slow to preheat, does not seem to maintain consistent temperature - seems to drop in temperature A LOT if there is a need to open the oven door for any reason, then slow to get back up to temp.
3) Range top - very poor design overall. a) With both large burners in the front, those burners are too big for small skillets or pots. Unless very low settings are used, the heat goes up around the sides of the pans rather than heating the bottom. b) Grate over center burner does not support a small skillet or pot. Unless the pot is positioned perfectly, it is not stable. c) I am short. With the elevated grates, it is very difficult for me to use the middle or back burners, especially with a pot with any amount of height. d) Large burner or the mini burner are the only ones that will maintain a simmer. With the others, on lowest setting, the lowest heat setting is too high for a simmer. e) I have had the flame on the largest burner go out when trying to set to low/simmer.
4) Control panel. Burner controls turn on far too easily. If you happen to bump them or rub against them, they come on. The control panel is VERY sensitive. Many times, while wiping a spot or working in front of the stove, my settings are lost or the display is activated.
5) Lastly, the timer just beeps once when the time is up, then not again for 30 seconds. If you are not right in the kitchen, it is very easy to miss this important alert!
At this point, I would LOVE to replace this range and due to the above would consider other brands rather than KitchenAid. Very disappointing.
