It's what i wanted

Previous refrigerator/ freezer was 26 years old. Decided to get a new one before it broke so I could get one I wanted and not be stuck with what stores had. Smart thinking on my part. Having an older home is not conducive to today's appliance offerings unless major reconstruction was done to the house. We were restricted to depth and width. I did not want stainless, door filtration or automatic ice. It took over 3 weeks to find a model that would fit. The appliance store was great making calls to manufacturers. Refrigerator is 1" deeper than our space allows so we only lost a little bit of access to our kitchen door. The height left 1/2" space from bottom of cabinets no problem there. The appliance is wonderful everything that was on our shelves are now in the door bin. My shelves are pretty empty. It is very quiet appliance. I do wish the interior light was more recessed or further back but not a big deal. I would have preferred bins in the freezer instead of wire basket but again not a big deal. Having a drawer was more important. I did want a French door but none of them would fit. Manufacturers need to keep in mind that older homes and there are a lot out there can not accommodate the appliances available today. There are so few choices for us. I'm glad Amana still makes refrigerators that will fit in designated spaces of the 1960's era. Finding non side by side, smooth black, no auto ice, or water filtration was not easy. Thank you Amana .
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have just purchased my fourth Amana refrigerator! They are great... I've only had to replace one and I got the others due to moves. They hold food well, I can see all of the condiments and few get shuffled off to the back of the refrigerator to mold!
The compressor is quiet. I love the bottom freezer... now I can get a drawer and not drop things on the floor - great design feature!
Amana bottom freezer refrigerators are the best!!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My old Amana's bottom freezer had a problem and the service person stated since it was over 15 years old he would not advise repair expenses so I told him I would like another Amana, same style. I also talked by phone to the manager and repeated that I wanted an Amana just like the one I had. I loved my old Amana, not one problem until now. The new Amana is almost its twin, just a few differences. More space in the door shelving but a little less in the interior. I am adjusting to the slightly shorter vegetable and fruit compartments. As to the rest of the interior, I am now locating things quicker and easier. The spacing is adequate and shelves can be placed in any suitable pattern. Personnel at my favorite appliance store know me well, they advise, sell and also provide quality service. I knew Amana is a top quality appliance so it was only natural I would desire another. And I can still have magnets holding pictures of my grandchildren!
We've had the fridge about a month now. It looks great, love the inside shelf and bottom drawers. Had to get used to the freezer down below, but it's nice having everything else at eye level. Keeps an even temp and things are nice and cold. It is kinda noisy tho. Didn't expect that. But otherwise am very happy with our Amana.
I had the smaller version of this same refrigerator for several years. I loved it. It had slideout shelves and were spillproof. No so for the larger version (22 cu ft). It doesn't have slideout shelves and the refrigerator door is very difficult to open. It sticks. I bought it online, so didn't have a chance to see it in the store, but I figured it would have the same features as the smaller one, which is the same refrigerator.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Can't remove the freezer bins in order to clean. They are held in by screws and I can't remove them. I'm 73 and the bottom of my freezer is getting VERY DIRTY . How do I remove the freezer bins?

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like my wide refrigerator. The glass shelves are easy to clean. The fruit and vegetable drawers are easy to operate, and I especially like the humidity controls. I wish that the freezer would hold more product. I tried to move the plastic barrier but was not able to and also there is no place to put the ice cube trays except behind that barrier. A few days after I bought it, the ice cream container wedged in the door and was open enough to have everyting frosty the next day and the light did not work. Had to remove everything and it was not easy to clean the moisture from it. Used the "grab it" with a towel attached.
We have purchased several refrigerators over the pass 43 years and have had very few problems, but it seams as the price increased and technology advanced the longevity has decreased. Purchased 4 years ago and JAZZ circuit board has failed causing frost buildup and after replacement the defrost of the buildup leaked onto the hardwood floor and a portion must be replaced. So not a happy camper Guess I do not win.
