My appliance guy, and friend Chuck Stokes was adamant about purchasing the kitchenaid due to lot maintenance. Looking around at other machines kitchenaid had the best ratings at a number of retailers at 4 star plus. I am truly enjoying it. Recommendation, opt for the drain pump.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] One of the few 18" under-counter ice makers available. Very quiet operation and makes plenty of gourmet quality ice. I bought the drain pump as an option. The unit was easily installed with clear and concise instructions. Thus far I have had no problems and therefore no complaites; great product if you need to fill an 18" wide space under your counter.

Poor Customer Service -- Atrocious

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After less than a year in service this machine stopped making ice, in the middle of the summer of course. Five weeks and three 3 hour service appointments later and I still do not have an operating appliance. Based on current estimate the next service call will put me at 6 weeks and probably another week for parts and what will be then the fifth 3 hour service call. Ridiculously bad customer service!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We purchased this for our new office building. It arrived damaged and we sent it back. Over 2 months later we received our new one. It worked for 2 weeks and we have had to replace a part on it. Not feeling real good about it so far.
