This case is definitely not as good as it claims to be online. I have had otter boxes for years, and just decided to try the Resurgence, as my phone has been dying a lot lately. The website claims that it more than doubles the battery, but it barely gives me a full charge. It is not compatible with the iPhone lightning plug, so I have to plug it into my PC to charge my phone which is very inconvenient. And the case is so slippery, it's like talking on a bar of soap. It has slipped out of my hands multiple times because there is no traction on it. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who is a heavy user of the iPhone. I wish I would have kept my old Otter Box instead of buying this one.

Hi iPhoneUser78,
Sorry to see that you’re having a bit of a lackluster experience with your OtterBox Resurgence. With regards to the “doubling” of the battery, this is actually speaking to the battery power, rather than the battery life. By using the Resurgence, you will essentially be adding a second battery to the one you already have in your phone, thus you now have 2X the battery power. The actual "life" of the battery is dependent on multiple factors of how you are using your device. For best performance, we recommend activating the charge transfer when your phone has dropped to between 40 – 50% power.
If your device is not reaching a full charge, this can be a factor of what, if any, applications you have running while charging the device, as they will continue to draw power throughout the charge process.
Charging directly into your PC will actually be one of the least efficient ways to use the Resurgence. For the quickest charge, we recommend plugging the USB provided into an iPhone wall charger (5 W), or even better, an iPad wall charger (10-12 W).
As for being slippery as soap, we definitely wanted to make this case easy to use with clothing pockets, thus the lack of any substantial grip texture. We’re always looking to feedback like yours to guide us as we strive to enhance the Otter experience, so we will definitely pass this along to our design team for future consideration.
If you should ever have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to give our friendly Otters a call at 1-855-688-7269.
I ordered the pretty green Otter Box and felt this was going to be the best way to stay 'charged' up away from home and I had my Otter Box about four days and it over heated and stopped charging. I simply do not understand why, I read and reread the directions and did just as instructed, so I am not really pleased with the resurgent Otter Box....

We have a team that specializes in these cases, and they will be more than happy to troubleshoot this with you, and even get you out a warranty replacement if that’s what it takes to get this amped up! Just give our super-charged Otters a call at 1-855-688-7269, and we’ll get you taken care of.
I saw this case and immediately purchased it, thinking this was a great idea and wanting a 2nd battery for my iPhone 5s. Partly it is my fault for not reading up closely on the product but I expected a backup battery that the phone would switch to when the main battery was low.
1. Backup battery is a charger that gets pretty hot. 2. Backup battery has to be manually switched over 3. If my main battery dies, I have a hard time telling if the 2nd battery has engaged when I push the button. 4. Case in itself is great, it is sleek and fits my iPhone 5s perfectly. Actually like the added weight in my pocket so I can tell its there.
Like I said partly my fault for not know how it was designed to work, if it was a battery that could be swtiched over to instead of a "charging station" I would like it a lot more.

Hi Ashaman,
We’re sorry to see that you are feeling a bit underwhelmed with the OtterBox Resurgence. It seems like this is a matter of your desires and our design maybe not quite meeting up, which is really a no-fault zone. We were curious, however, about how you’re having a difficult time determining if the case is providing a charge once you’ve pushed the button. Once you press the LED charge button on the case, you will see a sequence of lights to let you know that charging has begun. These lights will not continue throughout the charging process, but you will know that charging is still taking place by looking at the upper right corner of your iPhone 5/5S and the lightning bolt charging icon. We hope this helps some, but if you should have any other questions, please feel to give us a call at 1-855-688-7269, and we’ll be happy to put you through to our team our super-charged Resurgence specialists.
Cheers, OtterBox Customer Service Team

Hi robles4147,
We’re sorry to see that you are having some difficulties with the OtterBox Resurgence for your iPhone 5/5S. We certainly do like to make a secure case, but you shouldn’t have to feel like you’re breaking into Fort Knox just to remove your device. The case is designed to be removed by lifting the top clasp and separating the case. The faceplate will then come free, allowing you to safely remove your device from the case. While it can take just a bit of patience to become familiar with the best installation/removal techniques, we have included a link to our YouTube channel Resurgence video for your easy reference. If you continue to have any problems with this, please don’t hesitate to give our friendly locksmith Otters a call at 1-855-688-7269, and we’ll be more than happy to crack the case with you!
Does everything it is meant to do. Takes some work to take the phone out and put it back into the case, but there should be no need to do that many times. Very satisfied.
