Great Case
on July 9, 2014
Posted by: Swat
Just got my case in yesterday and I love the built in battery feature and the overall design of the case. The case seems durable; however, the only thing I don't like is that is doesn't have a built-in screen protector. For the price tag you think at least one of the otterbox stand alone screen protectors would be included. Guess I will be looking for a screen protector tonight.
Pros: High quality, Durable
Cons: no screen protector.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I am greatly surprised by the lack of protection on your Resurgence Power Case for iPhone 5s. My wife and daughter have used your protective cases (non battery) for their IPhones for the past couple of years and suggested that I get one since I dropped my IPhone 5S with the Mophie Juice Pack and cracked the screen. We also have your protective cases for our Ipads and have been happy with their design and protective capabilities. I was greatly surprised when I received your power case and found that it offered no more protection than the Mophie Juice Pack. When you look at your other cases you can see that they are much more heavy duty, with higher raised lips to protect the phone and screen more effectively. Also it is much harder to take your case off the phone compared to the Mophie Juice Pack. On the positive side I like the electronics of you product compared to the Mophie. I am deeply surprised that you advertise your Resurgent case as a protective case. In my opinion you should make the resurgence case with the same protection as your other cases or stop advertising it as protect.
Pros: electronics - switch\light
Cons: Low quality, Not durable, none protective

Not a good purchase

I have had this unit of couple of weeks now. With my use of this product I am not satisfied with this product so far. It is not a great product. Nothing wow about it.
-I can’t find a car charger for this device. it won’t take any other similar cords either
-I honestly don't feel this product gives me 2 times the battery capacity that of my iPhone.
-Also I didn't find it useful having to carry a different style charging cable. The regular iPhone one to connect to my computer and second one to charge this chase with
-The case does provide adequate shock protection and fits well in my hands.
-buttons are low quality. The charge display/button is already cracked.
-the sound level adjustment doesn't work well
-the charging cord that comes with the unit doesn't slide into the charging slot naturally. It’s more of a struggle to get them to work.
Cons: Low quality, Not durable, not well made, bad components, cant find a car charger for this unti
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Real life Comparison to Mobi = Otterbox WINS ALL!

I bought the Resurgence in Teal Shimmer at one of those Box Stores about an hour away from home, on a Saturday. I was leaving for Europe the next day. It didn't work! I called Otterbox and a real guy who spoke English and was based in Colorado provided me with the most excellent customer service on a Saturday afternoon! He walked me through the troubleshooting and determined that the box was indeed dead, so he arranged to send me a new one while I was in Europe.
Upon further examination of the box, it was obvious that someone had already returned it to the Box Store and I had received a pre-used/pre-broken box.
I tried to find another Otterbox before I left, but in the short amount of time I had and in my small town, no one had one. The local cellular phone store had Mobi's only, so I purchased one just to be sure that I would have extra battery while on vacation.
I used the Mobi for four days while on vacation. The design added another 2" to the overall length of the phone and it didn't offer any added protection like the Otterbox. What's more, it only offered 80% more power.
While I was in Europe, I used my cell phone on global data roaming for the maps feature - which seemed to absolutely drain my phone. On average, I was out and about for 15 hours a day. Every single day I used the Mobi recharge. Even with the Mobi, it was necessary to turn off the phone intermittently or else risk having no maps or phone all after about 10 hours of use. I received the low battery bleeping and warning every single day, and this was after a full charge was received.
On day five of my two week trip, I received the Otterbox Resurgence via FedEx (which incidentally cost about as much as the Resurgence itself). I took the Mobi off the iPhone and replaced it with the Otterbox and plugged it in for a charge.
The first thing I noticed about the Otterbox was that it was about 2" shorter than the Mobi, but thicker, which meant it was easier to hold onto for those selfies I was taking. It also fit in my backpack easier and didn't fall out of it's assigned pocket.
For the next 9 days, the Otterbox performed fantastically! Never once did I receive a low battery signal or get bleeped at. After 15 hours of roaming, wifi and data use, the Otterbox still had enough juice to power me all the way through the day. The Resurgence stated 100% more battery power and truly came through with that representation.
What's more, while walking the marble steps of a castle, my phone slipped from my hands and fell to the ground. It bounced several times and I cringed, thinking that I was now without a phone for the rest of my trip. The Otterbox had a couple little smudges on it, but the phone was unharmed and unaffected by the fall.
I would absolutely recommend the Resurgence to anyone considering the purchase of a battery extending protective box. What's more, the prices between the Otterbox and the Mobi are comparable. As a consumer who's compared the two products, Otterbox surpassed the Mobi in performance and protection by leaps and bounds.
Pros: High quality, Durable, shorter than a mobi
Cons: the teal shimmer shows dirt

iPhone 5S Resurgence Power Case

I have found the volume buttons on the case to not work properly when phone is in the case.
Both buttons lower the volume of the call.
Seems that both buttons are being pressed at the same time.

Hi Ugly4Life,

This is a very curious situation. There should be more than enough separation between the two volume control buttons that one would not interfere with the other. If you can give us a call at 1-855-688-7269, we can put you through to one of our Resurgence specialist who will be more than happy to see if we can troubleshoot this with you over the phone.

Best,

No Face

The case comes in two pieces. It does charge and is sturdy. Be aware that there is no face film for protection that way if you prefer it.
Also, I was trying to send texts with the case on and my iPhone 5s wouldn't send. When I took the case off it completed sending. It might be that the case is so thick at the bottom with the battery that it affects reception? Or is near the antenna?
I only had it for part of a day so you can take my review with a grain of salt. I ended up giving it away to a friend who didn't mind the open face. I'm keeping my Otterbox Defender case instead.
Pros: High quality, Durable
Cons: no face, affects reception
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Over the Mophie

I have had 3 mophie cases for my iphone 5. I was interested in the Otterbox because i always loved the protection that their cases give. After using the case for over a week, I find the back up battery DOES NOT charge double the phone's charge. However, the on/off switch is a tie with Mophies. It has not turned on by itself and it BLOWS away the Uncommon cases.
button accesablility is excellent and the case has a good feel. My recommendation? Otterbox you should put a rubberized coating on the case to prevent slippage.
Pros: Durable
I would recommend this to a friend!

Doesn't re-charge phone 100%

I had a Mophie Charger case for my phone and when I found out that OtterBox was coming out with their own charging case I immediately wanted one. I thought that the case was going to have protection similar to their defender series cases but it's not at all. It doesn't have a screen protector. Just holding the case while using normally it presses on the volume down button and will mute your sound and ringer if you're not careful. Using the volume up button is difficult because when you press it, it simultaneously presses the volume down button because of the pressure on the case. It's very tricky to turn up the volume. I had to disable my buttons in settings so I wouldn't miss calls or notifications. And lastly, it only brings my phone to 80-90% charge from 10% and gets pretty warm in your pocket when charging is on.
Cons: lacks protection, doesn't fully charge your phone, volume buttons don't work properly
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
