This case is well made with one exception. The buttons for the volume don't work at all or very poorly. Turning the volume down works fine, but is so sensitive if you touch it at all the volume is muted. The "volume increase" button is mostly non-functional. If I press the button and hold it hard, the volume will increase, but even that is inconsistent and it doesn't go up by one degree, but by 3, 5 or more. I either received a bad case or a design tweak is in order.
Before I bought this one, I had previously gotten a battery case from a different company. I dropped that one (quite a bit) and it held up for the most part, only a slight crack. Then I saw Otterbox was coming out with their version, so I jumped on it and bought one the day they became available. The color was beautiful, and the design was very sleek. However, within a few days, the button you press to charge already cracked into pieces without me even dropping it once. The batter didn't last as long or even close as long as my other one. Also, the case got very hot if you used the battery to charge the phone for a bit. Overall, the design of the case was beautiful but the actual workings of the case was not what I expected. I am actually in the process of returning my case and hopefully getting a refund.
Pros: beautiful design
Cons: Low quality, Not durable, hot battery

As stated in other reviews volume buttons do not work with this case. It constantly turns volume down while in my pocket and you have to remove the case to turn it back up which is about 10x harder than removing the defender I had on it. One of my coworkers has virtually the exact same case from another manufacturer that works much better for half the price. The only plus is that is does seem to charge pretty well but it does get pretty hot when I do it. Otter box missed with this one.
Cons: Low quality, Not durable

Does not charge fully and certainly not twice as much. Button jams constantly, poorly constructed product. And for this price that is totally unacceptable! OutterBox do better!
Cons: Low quality

Power Capacity

I switched to the Otter cover because I like the material it is made of; it is a no-slip plastic whereas my previous one wasn't.
The problem I have with this product is the power capacity. My Otter can only charge my iPhone 5S from 20% to between 85-90%, never to a full charge. My previous back-up system could go from 20% to 100%, then again from 20% to about 40% charge.
I like the majority of the features but the electrical back-up capacity falls short of my expectations.
Pros: Durable, non-slip case
Cons: poor power back-up capacity

Stopped working

The main reason I purchased this was for the battery extension. It seemed like adding this to my phone made the battery drain faster. Then it worked intermittently and now it stopped working altogether. I've only been using it for approximately three months. The case itself is heavy. For the cost, this is a poor product.
I have been using this OtterBox on my phone now for a couple weeks, and I have to say that I really love it! A few things that I would change about it though would be, to make a universal charger for it, like for the IPhone, or other phones. Otherwise, I only have one charger for it, and have to take it everywhere with me to charge it, when the extra battery power is used. I would also make it easier to remove from the phone, like the other OtterBoxes, and have a different headphone jack. If I don't have the one that it comes with, I can't plug in my headphones. This is not convenient. Also, the adapter plug does not connect real well. The plug sticks out too far. Thank you
Power case is stylish and it charges the phone quickly; however, the plastic case itself is lacking in quality. The batteries get quite warm when charging the phone and the case us heavy due to the batteries. The light that shows the batteries are charging the phone is flimsy. It does what it needs to do but falls a bit short on construction and materials. Granted you are paying mostly for the batteries but I would be willing to pay a bit more and get a better quality case.

Hey LazyLuna,
That’s great that the OtterBox Resurgence is taking care of business on the style and charge fronts, but we’re sorry to see that it’s falling a bit short on quality for you. We’re a bit surprised to see this as we put tremendous resources into all of our products, but we do appreciate any and all feedback, and we will definitely pass this along to our design team for future consideration. In the meantime, if you should ever have any questions or concerns regarding your case, please feel free to give our super-charged Otters a call at 1-855-688-7269!
