I bought this because the previous porcelain burner grids chipped.

Poorly made!

Cooktop, was designed poorly, not easy to clean around burners since the a actual burners do not remove. The ceramic top leaves streaks no matter how much you try to buff using the cleaner that was sent with it. I would not ever buy this again! The cast iron grates are beautiful however they just sit on the ceramic top and if are not on perfectly the flame sputters and the downdraft rubber seal is going to be a nightmare to clean when it is older. Not to mention it doesn't fit properly under the downdraft grate. Whoever designed this cooktop apparently does not cook on a daily basis or if does does not do the cleanup!

Our Second GE Cooktop

We have had great reliability and function from our 18yr old GE Profile gas cooktop. Recently the downdraft fan went out and a couple of burners wouldn't light. instead of getting it repaired, we decided to upgrade to a new GE Profile has cooktop with a downdraft exhaust. It is nicely designed and ergonomically styled. We look forward to another 18 years from our new cooktop.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Efficient and elegant cooktop.

It's a very beautiful looking 30" cook-top. We never had any complaints for 15 years before the large burner warped breaking the glass top (diagnosis overheating). It took us over a year to find the same model, and it was worth it. The cook-top fits snug and looks really stunning in the kitchen. It needs regular cleaning for the downdraft to work efficiently. I don't think that is too much to ask for a kitchen appliance.

I've been using the new cooktop for about a month now, and like it very much. I especially like the flat surface and removable grills that make it so easy to clean....except that the flat surface shows everything and has to go beyond a quick "wipe-up" to remove marks. I've finally figured out that a fresh out-of-the-washer dish cloth and out-of-the-washer dish towel work best. Apparently the slightest bit of grease just spreads around and the ugly streaks won't disappear. Of course, if I use the cream (can't remember the name of it) that you recommend, that clears off all the marks, but that is a bigger project and I don't have time for that every single time I use the cooktop. All this being said, I still like it and the new look it gives my kitchen as its on a center island and the first thing you see as you walk into the kitchen.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Gas stove

We love cooking with gas. This downdraft exhaust cook top is sleek and modern. We replaced our GE Elite glass top stove as a direct drop-in; great fit without cutting or filling. The controls are smooth and access is convenient. Burner temperature is easily adjustable from a slow simmer to a super seer for steaks and toss for stir fry. All in all very happy. As with any stove, cleaning is relatively easy if you keep after it.

Acceptable product

The glass top of white cooktop is inconvenient both for cleaning and to be fragile on heavy stuff. Also, the cast iron burner grates and the vent grille are difficult to clean once in use.
