Nice Energy Star Certified Appliance

Went for this fridge specifically for the Energy rating, and size to accomodate my smaller kitchen. Chose the bisque color to match my existing appliances. Very nice looking unit. Freezer is HUGE (almost too big for my needs). Expecting unit to function without problems!

Very dissapointed

I recieved this fridge two weeks ago. First thing that I found was the shelving arrangment was limited for my preferences. This unit will not support a 1.5 ;litre bottle of wine without the original cork fully seated. Not enough heighth in the door or the shleving without dropping or removing a full shelf. Second, the temp control is right in the front and in the way of most items you would place on the top shelf. I think this unit was defective but in having a tech out from my place of purchase I was told it was within spec in terms of the noise it made from the compressor and how long it ran. It also was not defrosting the freezer. I was told the door must have left open too long and to defrost the unit it would need to shut off allowed to melt. Two of the three glass shelves in the food compartment had blemishes, round circles that would not wash out. The freezer rack was extremely flimsy and I would doubt capable of holding a large amount of weight. I ordered a second one through GE parts to reduce this risk. Sad to say that I was and am very unhappy with this item and returned it during my return grace period and I sent back the freezer grill, at my expense. Lesson learned and I will stay away from GE products going forward due to this experience. The sad part is this unit replaced a simily Ge fridge that I had more than 25 years that was starting to fail. Good luck to all, do your research. Door Problems, No Freezer Light, Loud!

When you close the freezer door, the refrigerator door pops open and stays about half an inch ajar until you notice it and close it. Also, if you just let the refrigerator door close, it mostly but not quite closes. There is no light in the freezer, and the compressor sounds like a truck roaring by.

A bit of a disappointment

Although it cools very well, it is not as "user friendly" as the same size, approximately 35 years old, GE unit that I had until I got this one. Primarily, my complaint has to do with the internal shelf arrangement, including the door shelves. The cabinet is so deep that I nearly have to do deep knee-bends to reach any items in the fresh food area that are not at the very front of their shelves. This is because the depth of the door shelves is such as to make the cabinet shelves be located awkwardly far into the cabinet. Very unhandy for an 82 y.o. guy like me, or a 79 y.o. person such as my wife! My impression is that there is a little less USABLE shelf space than there was in the old one. If I had it to do over, I would opt to have the old unit repaired. BTW, the footprint of this unit is about two inches wider and two inches deeper than my prior 21 cu. ft. top freezer GE box.
It does cool very well, though, even in this God-awful south Alabama heat.

Simple and great look

I bought it last month. It does not have unnecessary attractive features which trouble us later. Simply big and has regular fridge space and freezer. It saves energy though big.
