Great starter windows phone

As a former Nokia Lumia 530 user I was at first easily impressed in the Microsoft 640's sleek, light, and large display. But after using the device for several weeks now I have discovered it has some issues. First the copy and paste tool is inefficient. Say you copy a email address and paste it on a new email your composing, then you finish typing and you want to copy the entire email to paste somewhere else, so you select the new text and try to paste it instead it will cut the entire selected text and paste the old selected email address. This is very frustrating and I have lost many excellent well written articles because of this flaw, which I have found no solution for. Also the internet explorer has its kinks. MANY mobile sites are incompatible with this explorer
this was something I noticed in the 530 but thought would be fixed with the newer software updates. There is so much out there that is yet to use the Windows platform and I say this has to change. Windows phone is such a innovative game changing idea, that cannot fizzle put due to lack of options and the takeover of the Android and IPhone. You have to compete with your competitors, don't get taken down by the competition's choice of more options. Overall the 640 is a great phone with excellent efficient features the programing just needs a little TLC.

Kills my old Phone.

I switched from a Galaxy Note. I love this phone, low price and NO CONTRACT! It's very fast , I've never seen any lag when switching from one app/function to another. The battery life is incredible, will use the phone all day and not have to connect for a charge until bed time! I'm missing an App or 2 but compared to the Note this is a Jet!

Great phone

I have owned several Android phones, different brands, different models, no one has the easiness of use, the performance and beauty of such a low price a the Lumia 640. I love windows phones and this one is excellent. The limitation of apps is something of the past. Even that some apps take some extra time to be available after they are launched for ios or Android.

I have been using mobile devices since the 90s, first with Palm products and then Windows CE/Windows Mobile via HTC products. For a long time it annoyed me that I had to carry a laptop/tablet, PDA and phone. Although I owned a 520 previously the 640 is the fist phone that really allows me to be completely mobile. Large enough to do the tasks of a Tablet but small enough to use as a phone. I work seamlessly with all my devices and calendar, emails, images etc all sync quickly between them so whatever device I happen to be using its always up to date and synchronized. Used properly with your other Windows products this phone is an absolute must - as would be any of the larger screen lumia phones.
The phone comes with a sensible array of apps on board. Here Drive is an excellent sat nav program and I have not used my stand-alone unit since owning the 640. Mail works well and the calendar is simple and efficient Social Media and internet browsing is fast and the phone switches quickly between my wireless locations. For work you don't need a ton of apps and honestly i don't get the media hype of microsoft not having enough apps (unless what people mean is they want more free games???)
I must also add that lumia phones offer the best call quality of any phone I have ever used - its like speaking to someone in a recording studio - the clarity is amazing.
Camera is surprisingly good, and I have found myself actually using it at times. Its particularly handy if you need a document on your computer - just take a photo with your phone and its instantly shared across your Windows devices. Browsing is fast and smooth using my provider (Virgin Media) and the phone support 4G too. Battery life is outstanding and I only have to charge every couple of days unless it gets heavy use.
The only negative is that out of the box Windows phones do look boring...the icons are bland and square. However add a favourite background image from your one drive folder and customize your tiles and the phone is transformed.

Fabulous upgrade

Love this new Lumina 640 - the larger screen (over the 521) is helpful, but having Cortana is extremely helpful. I'm still becoming acquainted with the phone, but as time permits, I'm finding I greater appreciation for this phone than it's predecessor (and I enjoyed the predecessor!)

Best windows phone for the budget by far , premium design and experience . Gorgeous display and pictures . Full range of apps and personalization . If you're thinking about the 640 , get it for sure .

excellent phone! i've had it about a week and i'm very happy with it; good performance, good battery life. however, earlier today i dropped it onto the sidewalk from about TWO FEET up and the screen completely shattered and the display broke. definitely buy a shock-absorbing case.
