I love OtterBox, but I was a little disappointed when my preserver series failed on me after two moths. I bought the special case because go out lot on the boat, and I need my phone to be safe. It has two weak areas of thin plastic on the case where if you drop it on those sides it will crack, and chip off. The weak points are in the top and bottom middle of the case. Once those areas were compromised the case was no longer water proof. Unfortunately my phone was affected, by the chipped off areas of thin plastic.
Pros: Durable

The case has already aided in preventing my phone from being scratched and splashed. I worry however about the design. If you plan on leaving your phone in the case 24/7, rarely taking it out, then good. If like me, you need to open and close it to charge (hot climate overheats the phone) all the time, you might want to think about how long it will take until the material bends and corrupts the water proofing. The corners used to clip and un-clip the phone seem like they will bend out of shape after continual use.

This is a great case to have around vacation time around the pool or the beach, camping etc. But not for a daily use. Everything is great except the access to the charging port. The prying clip included is great also is just the inconvenience of having to pry open the phone charging port every time. And it also gives the feeling that you may even damage the phone if your not careful. Overall the case is great and it looks awesome (I own the glacier color). Hope this helps. By the way the water proof works as described.

Cons: access to the charging port is a task on its own

I waited to buy the Samsung S5 because it was water resistant. Two weeks after purchase the charging port closure was broken and lost. Otterbox to the rescue!!!! Not only is it safe it also fits into my old otterbox belt clip which I use for running and on my bike. The waterproof feature is essential as I live on an island in the summer.

Cons: does not fit old otterbox belt clip perfectly

The case is waterproof, and that may be the only pro. Keeping the case on the phone is a nuisance. Too big,bulky, and difficult to access the charger port. Just not much to choose from with the galaxy s5. I was able to buy the lifeproof case when it became available, really like the design and size. The lifeproof was returned because was terrible echo with case installed, since lifeproof has stopped sales.

case is awesome! i use it while jet skiing with no problems. only issue i have is the bottom charging flap pops off waaaay to easily when open for charging. when it is closed it is great.

Flap Fail

At first I thought this case to be too bulky because I have small hands but I've gotten used to it. I feel good about the protection I'm getting. Some with larger fingers may have trouble accessing the phones charging port after opening the case flap. It's a tight fit and I have to use my nail to get it open. My only problem with this case is the usb flap is falling off at the slightest touch. I will have to return this case.

It's a great concept, but poor execution. The case halves don't snap together very securely. I've had it pop open with light bumps, and would never trust it to be water proof. I've since went back to another basic case and given up on this one.
