Installation was a little confusing at first since I wanted to vent it internally. The options and performance are great except that when venting indoors , the air flow is too restricted. It is quiet and effective if vented outdoors.

This an attractive unit with four fan levels. Dimmable lights are a nice touch. Filters are easy to clean. Soft touch buttons are sometimes tricky to use, but they keep the profile lean and are easy to clean.

I have used this fan to remove smoke when roasting coffee. It does a good job, but probably wasn't designed for that much smoke. Still, I have never had smoke alarm go off.

Worked great until it didn't

I installed my Allure QS3 approximately 11 years ago, and it ran flawlessly until this week. I came home after a cleaning service had just cleaned the kitchen to find that the unit wasn't working properly. Neither the lights or the fan would run when I pressed the key-pad, although the fan setting LEDs did light up. I jumped on the Broan website and downloaded the installation manual which said this was the classic example of blown fuse--Great, I thought, that should be easy to fix.
So, I run out and purchase a box of fuses and take the unit apart. oddly the exploded view didn't show where the fuse was located but based upon the description I expected it to be on the control board. When I got inside the unit though, no fuse or fuse holder anywhere?
Once again I returned to the internet, and found a forum discussion about this where others also found there wasn't a fuse. Presumably Broan may have added this functionality in later years? I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.
Anyway, now I have a decision, replace the control board or replace the whole unit.
Btw, I also installed this unit, as a top-ducted installation, and as I recall configuring it to vent with a rectangular duct out the top required a fair amount of retrofitting and ingenuity. Once installed, however, I loved this unit. very quiet ,yet powerful and up until now dependable.

In follow-up to our previous reply, we have discussed your situation further with our Technical Support team and older model QS3 range hoods (manufactured before February 2002) did not have a fuse. You would need to change out the control board in this case. For more questions our Technical Department can be reached at 800-637-1453. Thanks for your question and feeback.

Thank you for your question. The QS3 range hood uses a 10 amp, 5mm x 20mm fuse. The fuse should be located right between the two electrical wire connections on the cirucit board.
