Garbage

OK, it's now 6 years old and it is dead again, not cooling - again. It's big and it's bright inside due to the LED lights, but the ice maker makes so little ice it's a joke and I have lost track of the repairs. At least half a dozen by service people and at least a dozen times by myself defrosting the freezer and replacing the fans. Should never have gotten rid of the old unit!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Good for 5 years...

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] -There seems to be a trend here. I loved this fridge until the compressor went out. It has been horrible trying to get someone out to fix it. After two repair people have been to the house & said they couldn't fix it I called LG to ask who they recommend. The provided three names. Two of the companies had less than two stars! The third is scheduled but has not been here yet. We have gone 22 days to date without a fridge. -Up to this point - I like the large capacity. I had my cabinets custom made to house the fridge. We did have to take a shelf out because there really wasn't enough room for it. I love the LED lights. Overall it is difficult to keep clean because there are so many layers of glass and shelves to remove. There are many crevices that I can't seem to get clean, even with a toothpick. -Items in the top drawer of the freezer, in the front, don't seem to stay 100% frozen. I keep popsicles there so there is no issue with spoilage. Sometimes they are misshapen. -The ice maker is in the fridge door so the trade off is small capacity, that doesn't seem to bother us too much, but the fact that the ice cubes are very small, and melt quickly makes me crazy.
My fingers are crossed that it will be fixed next week. I hope my luck is better in the future...

Too big to stay cool

This LG model was in the home I purchased in 2017 so I don't know what maintenance it required by the prior owner. Since I've been using it, neither the refrigerator nor freezer has tested as cool as the setting. The freezer barely stays under 32 degrees even when set at zero degrees. Ice cream is always soft. The coil has frozen several times and caused the evaporator fans to stop turning. I replaced one of the fan motors, which seemed to help for a while, but it still freezes up from time to time. When it stops making ice, it's time to defrost, but by then it's usually too late to save everything. Replacement water filters are a racket, too. I won't be buying any LG products in the future (The LG oven that came with the home cannot maintain the set temperature either so only the burners are used. Luckily we have an electric oven in the basement for baking).

Awesome Refrigerator all around

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this refrigerator 6 years ago and have not had one problem with it. It is awesome inside with fantastic lighting and very useable space. I love the water dispenser being separate from the ice cube dispenser so I don"t have to keep changing it. It's a very pretty looking refrigerator as well.

Buyer Beware!! Linear compressors fail

We are on our 4th compressor in total, and new evaporator, computer board, filter, lines cleared, freon charges with it. Technician has spent 3 days of 3-4 hours disassembling and talking to tech support. He has been wonderfully patient, but he is frustrated. Awaiting buyout decision. Do not buy an LG refrigerator! Stick withTV's, washer and dryers, they are excellent!!!

Does its job overall

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Had an issue where the compressor had to be replaced twice. Unit is functioning well now only other complaint is that the ice maker is not working, when we try to turn it on we wake up to water leaking all over the floor and doors of the fridge. Unit is cold but it is like the ice maker is overflowing water.

Worst purchase I ever made

Even the repair person tried to get the unit replaced as its constantly breaking down, now it makes more noises than a zoo in a thunderstorm. I had the compressor replced twice, fans replaces, the coils needed replaced as well as the bottom plastic drawer. Lost a full set food 3 times, and went for weeks with no refridgerator. Would never buy an LG item again in my life.
