I want to love it.. but I can’t.

We’ve only had this fridge a couple of years. We’ve had multiple problems with it. As of right now the bottom ice maker is broken and keeps dumping ice while we are not home. It over flows the bin causing it to fall behind the drawers when we open it, then making the doors not shut. I’m VERY disappointed in this item, and all of our appliances are whirlpool. we’ve had a service guy come out multiple times and he’s unable to fix it. We’ve lost good items a few times with it not shutting properly. For the amount of money we spent on this item, you’d think it would at least last a few years.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Refrigerator wont cool

I bought this refrigerator and within the first year it would not cool. Whirlpool did replace it with a new unit under the manufacture warranty so I was so relieved. But the "new" one is doing the same thing. The freezer works, but it ices up behind the double drawers and there is no air blowing in the refrigerator. The refrigerator does not cool at all. Such a terrible feeling to know how much money it is probably going to cost me to fix it. Especially since my old refrigerator worked great I just wanted what I though was going to be an upgrade. I work in a position where I recommend appliances to customers. Cant recommend Whirlpool again.

Bummer

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Our new refrigerator was delivered a month ago. After a few days we weren't happy with how cold it was. Thought it just took more time to get totally cooled. After three weeks the freezer was ok but the refrigerator section totally stopped working. Called someone in for repair. Luckily we had the dual ice makers so I keep bowls of ice in the fridge to keep things somewhat cool. The repairman came and said the top fan was not getting the command to turn on. He had to order a new mother board and front digital controller. For some reason Whirlpool didn't have the part number anywhere for the controller. That added another 2 days to getting it repaired. Finally a week later both boards were replaced and the unit has been working fine ever since. For the item to be totally out of whack from the very beginning is very disturbing. We like the looks and the layout of it but are worried about what will be wrong next.

Terrible service

Product has leaked water inside since day 1 (~2/22/16). Have been trying to resolve issue since then and have been unsuccessful (1.5 months later). Latest is local repair company can't get replacement part because the refrigerator is so new. Why not pull part off of assembly line? Anyhow, seems like Whirlpool = poor quality control in factory coupled with inability to resolve issues with poor quality control. Beware Whirlpool.

Great Functionality

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We did a lot of research before purchasing our appliances. We love this refrigerator, we use the two drawers for drinks. My two year old son is able to open his drawer, chose his own drink and I don't have to worry about him closing it all the way, as the drawer closes itself. So far, the door ice maker is working great! Our old refrigerator would not eject ice from the door and we had several service calls on it. This ice maker is ejecting ice well and makes crushed ice great!The only reason I am not rating it a 5/5 is the door storage for condiments. I have configured them several ways and can not seem to have enough room for all my items. One shelf never has enough room to fit items practically. I usually end up putting sticks of butter in there and flatter jars. But this is its only downfall. Overall, a great purchase!

Okay but not Great

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It's hard to beat the "old school" simple appliances. While this fridge is huge and has lots of drawers and cubbies, their design and the shelving options just don't allow for the same storage capacity as my 20-year-old freezer on top fridge. I'm finding it hard to fit simple bottles like Worsterschire sauce, A-1, syrup -- bottles that are a little taller -- into the shelving. If I adjust for the height of those or say milk and juice containers, I lose shelving elsewhere. I'm having to lay things on their side. The slide back shelf in the main body is fine for about 3 items, but that's it. In a nutshell, you can make it all fit, but it's just not as functional, efficient and the best use of space. I'm concerned about it accommodating everything when I have a large party or Thanksgiving meal...the verdict is still out. Also, not convinced it's keeping things as cool. Perhaps the doors/drawers aren't sealing as tightly??? For now, I'm trying to just enjoy it and hope it works out great in time. I've had it about a month. I've heard these new appliances are more expensive to run with all the bells and whistles and tend to break, so again, time will tell. I've never spent a fortune on an appliance but decided to give it a whirl in my new house, especially since the fridge spot was built for these massive size fridges. My old school fridge would have left big gaps on the sides. If my old fridge would have fit and been stainless steel, I probably would have kept it or picked another like it. Just bought this to see what all the hype was about. Lastly, my old school fridge was silent. This new one makes some noises. And when the ice drops...you know it. I never even noticed my old fridge unless my ice tray was completely empty.
