confident in doing family taxes' myself!

A colleague had advised me unsucessfully, to take control and be my own taxes person. After 6 yrs, i decided to give in and try Turbo Tax. This is our second year, and i'm very confident i am doing the right thing for my family. the deductions language is very easy to understand, plus excellent guidance through the whole process. I'm done, thanks to God, with all those long hours waiting for someone to see me, i can file my family taxes at any time i wish to...!!!! Thanks Carol for 'forcing' me to review turbo tax...
What's great about it: ease of guidance and IRS updates about deductions
What's not so great: lenghty phone wait for assistance...

I have used Turbotax for several years and it only gets better, For someone like me who is not a CPA it is a money saver!

Tax filing - Piece of Cake!

Absolutely love the enhancements TT makes each and every year. I have been using this for years and the incremental ease of use features and the maturity of the software clearly shows. The ability to choose between the detailed Interview method (for new filers) and the direct forms method for experienced filers makes it a pleasure to use and switch between the methods any time you want. Every step of the way TT lets you know the status of your refund from Federal and State in Green (refund) and Red (owe) numbers right at the top of the page.
I truly enjoyed the ease with which it can import W-2 data from payroll companies, transactions from Financial institutions and from Quicken.
Overall this is a polished product and I would recommend this to any one who is fearful of having to do taxes on their own. Simply make sure you have all your paperwork handy before you get started and TT will help you every step of the way.
What's great about it: Top notch tax software with frequent updates.
What's not so great: Failed to import tax records directly from TD Ameritrade

Prepared my taxes sitting on my couch

I used to prepare my taxes by hand. As a youngster, I remember my father sitting at our table with it covered with papers and him grumbling about how complicated it was to do their taxes. As an adult, I found myself doing the same thing until I discovered TurboTax. Now TurboTax asks the appropriate questions and I fill in the blanks. Simple as that. It's like having a tax service prepare my taxes but I can do it without going anywhere and I can complete it at the pace I choose.
What's great about it: I have prepared my taxes in the past by hand. TurboTax took that pain away.
What's not so great: None that I have found.

5th Year using TurboTax

It can't be simpler using TurboTax! We haven't had many complicated returns, but when there were multiple sources of income, like this year, due to job changes, TurboTax made the most of what I could get!
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I've used TurboTax for years. Never had any problems. It's easy to use and easy to see all your data in the reports and forms.
