Always Simplifies Taxes

I have used Turbotax for nearly 20 years, and it is great! The first few years I did my taxes myself and with Turbotax to compare results. The time saved using Turbotax is unmatched. My only disappointment this year involved conversion of a traditional IRA to a Roth. I have done this the last 3 years, and it was pretty clear the previous 2 years that I was providing information for that procedure. This year, I imported the 1099-R and all interview questions involved switching/recharacterizations. I was not sure the program knew that the amount on my 1099 was converted not switched since my income is too high for contributions to a ROTH. I went and actually checked my 8606 to see if the money was accounted for in the conversion area, and it was. Kudos for doing it, but shame for not alerting me that it was already taken care of. Thank you

Problem solved

I have used Turbo Tax for years and glided through the process easily. I wish I could remember the question that tripped me up. I think it was when I was entering my personal information that the program asked me if I had received any scholarships. I entered yes, but it was my son that was the recipient. Later I entered the scholarship information for my son in the education section. The program created a student worksheet for both of us, and listed the scholarship $ twice, raising my wages by the scholarship amount! I couldn't understand why the amount of wages recorded on the 1040 was more than the amount on my W-2. I tried the FAQs and couldn't get a relevant answer, so I decided I needed to talk to a real person. In spite of the 45 minute wait, I was very pleased to have help from a knowledgeable professional who worked diligently with me until we located the entry that had caused the problem.
What's great about it: Personal help from a tax professional who helped me solve a problem with my return.
What's not so great: An ambiguous question led me to make an error.

TURBO TAX TIME

WE HAVE USED TURBO TAX EXCLUSIVELY SINCE 1992, TRADITIONAL TAX PREPARER WAS TOO EXPENSIVE, WE DID ALL THE WORK! FILLED OUT PAGES OF DATA, THEN WATCHED HIM ENTER ALL OUR WORK INTO HIS SOFTWARE, BINGO BIG BILL. NO SATISFACTION.
What's great about it: NEVER LOSE YOUR PLACE...PROCEED AT YOUR OWN PACE...EASY REVIEW
What's not so great: YEARLY DUTY...LOWER PRICE WOULD BE GREAT

Quick & Easy!

My return uses a number of schedules that require multiple forms. Imported data made this year's return a lot quicker and less hassle for Sch D gains & losses. Turbotax effortlessly winds into forms required and updates calculations accordingly. It amazes me that the program is so all-encompassing with just about every aspect of tax prep I can think of.
What's great about it: Guides you step-by-step
What's not so great: Sometimes have to back into a form
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Transmit my refund

It was simple and quick to fill out my answers but had to many duplicate questions

Constant calculating is the Best!

I don't understand why when I go back to look at something it has changed from what I checked the last time and I have to change it again. I have noticed this every year I use Turbo Tax. This is outweighed by doing my taxes by hand which is what I did before!
What's great about it: calculates my refund correctly and I get my refund fast
What's not so great: didn't transfer retiree income correctly to Michigan-I had to do it on the Michigan return
