2012 Turbo Tax product review

getting all info together takes time but with the tax program it lets you know what forms to look for. Keeping track during the year of deductions is helpful with Quicken.
What's great about it: fast, easy to navigate
What's not so great: going back to review prior year check figures

I'd like to see a "Print" button in the menu that pops up to review what forms one wishes to save and/or review.

The only way to file Income Tax Returns

You don't have to be an accountant or a banker to use this software! If you can read and follow directions you can do your own taxes!
The automatic update of personal info and tax info from previous years tax returns completed on TurboTax is huge time saver.
The interview like guided navigation walks you through every category of wages/income, deductions/credits, other tax situations from common to uncommon, step by step. But the menus are so intuitive it's just as easy to go to any category to review and make changes as needed.
The Review section helps make sure you've covered all the categories that are specific to your return and even advises you if something is different from previous years that you might want to review that specific income or deduction category to ensure correctness.
Finally when you're done and ready to file you can either print and mail your return or file electronically. (E-file, the fastest way to get your refund at no extra cost!)
I've been a customer for many years now and TurboTax is a great product that gets better every year.
What's great about it: Walks you through step by step, catagory by catagory.

Time and Stress Saver

Overall Turbo Tax is an excellent product. I have been using since the early days and the ease of use has improved steadily. Having numerous mathematical calculations done. and forwarded throughout the various forms and schedules is a big time saver.
I always do Federal and two states and having Turbo Tax almost seamlessly fill in all three is an extremely efficient use of my time. Knowing that each is filled in correctly from one form to the next, takes a lot of stress out of doing my own taxes.
Having Turbo Tax fill out subsequent schedules and forms associated with any tax situation I have faced, makes me confident doing my taxes.
What's great about it: The speed in which taxes can be calculated and filed.
What's not so great: Not enough up-front advise on complicated tax issues

Disappointed filer

I have used this product for several years. I miss seeing how the old version and the new have changed right on the forms. The program missed my spouse's state tax paid and only picked up on my own. The printing features are hard to use. There is conflict with my computer's print programs. I am seriously considering having a pro do my taxes for next year. Serious stress! Program copied 1099R number incorrectly for spouse and caused a problem.
What's great about it: Easy to navigate; fairly straight-forward in instructions
What's not so great: Did not figure in state taxes paid by spouse although small
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

easier than i thought

over all for the first time using turbo tax i thought it went very well. for having a farm we went through all the same forms the professionals did plus some extra ones. i believe next year will go much better.
