Awesome

I used TurboTax for a few years, then went to an accountant when my taxes got really complicated....then came back a few years ago, when we "downsized".
What's great about it: Liked the importing of w-2's, etc....and the carrying into this year of last years pertinent info.
What's not so great: Can't find any at this point!
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Turbo Tax Delux

I'm a Pastor so I have special considerations i.e. Parsonage in box 14 of the W4. This year, in the standard walk through, it appeared to miss the adjustment between Box 14 and my actual parsonage usage. I back tracked on the Forms view and with mild difficulty and comparing with a previous years forms I was able to find the needed page and make the required entry. Other than this thank you for a consistently great product!
What's great about it: Intuitive and thorough it gets the job done and it easy to backtrack

Twenty-Two Years of Great Service

I believe the title tells you what you need to know. A former IT director, now Chemistry professor has been using MIT/TT for over 20 years. Makes doing complex returns easy. Have tested other products, but always come back to TurboTax (Mac). I never sweat doing taxes - this program makes it very straight forward, and the built in assistance smooths the process substantially. A sound investment for your tax sanity.
What's great about it: Simple GUI, sophisticated and comprehensive algorithms, dependable
What's not so great: Would like to be able to add text to dotted line areas

Easy to use, harder to review data before filing

TurboTax makes it easy to fill in my information, dividing into sections for personal information, income, deductions, etc. I really like how there are little help links that open in pop-ups and then link to even more information. I like the information about what paper work I will need so I can have everything ready before I begin a section. I also like the option to go through guided by TurboTax or to see an overview and select which parts I want to work on in what order. I came to like the community questions displayed at the bottom of the screen (you can hide them if you don't want to see them), though I found them cluttering at first.
I wish I could see a little better how the numbers I enter into TurboTax contribute to the values I see on the final return. For example, my income from W-2s didn't match the income that appeared on the Wages, Salaries, Tips line. I would like to be able to click on that line and see where that total came from. Similarly, after I've already filled in a section, if I revisit it I'd like to see an overview of what I've already filled in. The way it works this year is that TurboTax just takes me through exactly the same series of screens as it did the first time. That doesn't help me be able to view and double check my entries.
In summary, I found it very easy to go through and enter information, but much harder to understand how the information I entered was used in the final tax return itself or find a way to review and verify the values I entered. I have found errors in (paper) tax forms before and prefer to be able to double check my work. But I trust the results generated by TurboTax and trust my return is accurate. And it's a LOT easier than filling out the paper forms!!
What's great about it: Quick and easy to fill out, confident of getting the best result possible
What's not so great: Too hard to see where my numbers go
