Don't have to get the forms and instructions. Don't have to complete all the different types (1040, 140EZ, etc.) to see which is most profitable. However, sometimes I can't always get back to where I want to change an entry.
What's great about it: Don't have to do all forms on paper to see which is the best.
What's not so great: Can't always get back to where I want to change something.

Very painless way to do taxes. Especially nice the way TurboTax autofills info from previous year returns and imports W2's from employer.

As good as it has been through the years. But the final cost, even though e-filing Fed return is free, is a shocker and not fair. There was no advance notice of this charge. cost of Turbotax is high enough.
What's great about it: transfers reliably info from previous year's return; plenty of guidance during points of info entry
What's not so great: help is a bust! "Community help" is time consuming and tedious. Cost of "refund processing" is a steal. no warning .

Fantastic.... except fixing city return.

TurboTax was great and easy. My only issue has only ever been that the city tax return has always been wrong and I have had to do by hand in the past to get right. This year I found where to go in the form to correct it to NON-RESIDENT, and that not all of our joint filed income was earned in the taxable city.
What's great about it: Covered all my deductions!
What's not so great: The city return automatically defaulted to RESIDENT, which is not true.

Have used for years and this was easy to install, and appreciated always checking updates. Had a little confusion with the second state and Federal returns, couldn't do itemized on Federal, so then couldn't deduct Mortgage interest in state. But made it thru and hopefully next year will be much easier!!!

What's great about it: Filing 2 states, and selling a home, was pretty easy to get thru.
What's not so great: had to pay for 2nd state, moved
