My 2012 Turb Tax Experiance

As usual, the process went very well for me this year with a couple of minor quirks. In one example I was asked for the date I wanted to make a payment on my NY State taxes but the date format was not specified. I entered it in my preferred style but later in the process this was flagged with an error and I had to reenter the date. I guessed at the format needed and was successful, but if they included a format or a entry form that could only give the correct answer that could have been avoided. The State process also asked for some information on my last years return, forcing me to go back and dig that up. That was surprising since Turbotax should have last years data to get that from.
What's great about it: Pretty painless
What's not so great: Required a few manual steps I didn't expect.

Expected a great return....and got it

Turbo Tax allowed me to enter my information on my own despite the numerous 1099 formats I recieved from financial institutes. I also liked that T.Tax gave me less questions to answer during the guidance. One year I was responding to way to many questions.
I still do not under the Last Yr to Current Yr comparsion and also the audit feature needs a little more tweaking. If I enter 0 and it keeps asking me for a figure then just accept it. With are you sure and continue forward....
What's great about it: Option to enter figures as well as e-entry
What's not so great: The Last Year to This Year comparsion

GREAT PROGRAM

IMPORTS INFORMATION GREAT. HAD PROBLEMS GETTING ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS ABOUT DEDUCTIONS. COULD NOT SAVE INFORMATION AND COME BACK TO IT LATER. LIKED THE OLD PROGRAM BETTER. DO LIKE THE NEW FORMAT FOR SECTIONS LISTED.
What's great about it: IMPORTS INFORMATION FOR YOU. CHECKS FOR MISTAKES.
What's not so great: HARDER TO START TAXES FOR SECOND PERSON. HARDER TO STOP AND RESTART IF NEEDED. HAVE PROBLEMS GETTING ANSWERS.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Have used Turbo Tax for several years. Took a break one year and used a live tax/accounting office, I had to pay both Federal and State taxes AND pay them big dollars for their services. I will never do that again!
What's great about it: Easy to follow and good explanations. Once again received a refund from my State and Federal governments
What's not so great: Does not flag the government changes that have been made prior to entering informaiton

TT a Must for Multi-State Returns

We moved in the early part of the tax year, cashed in an old 401K and sold and bought a house. Add in the partial year divisions of all the tax deductions between each of the state forms, and this would have been an insurmountable task to do without Turbo Tax to help. Everything worked well, except for the "save" feature on the AZ state return which did not work until I was totally finished and had saved the entire return. When I found some additional deductions I had to add in, I had to start all over and reenter the numbers. A minor problem. Taxes get worse and worse to file every year. You don't mind paying your taxes, but the complexity of the forms make it a real pain. Turbo Tax eases that burden, and gives me the peace of mind to know that I got my proper deductions and accurately payed all taxes that I owed.
What's great about it: Calculations done accurately and efficiently
What's not so great: Like it to follow more closely the actual tax return form rather than their categories
Pros: I moved, My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Overall turbotax did the job required. i have used it for several years and it improves each year. In my former life I was A CPA
and i know I would not be able to fill out a tax return without help.

What's great about it: overall ease of covering all items necessary to fiil out return and ease of printing
What's not so great: confusion on input from last years return.I found certain itms weren't clear

Good Tax Software

Easy to use ... nice that software compares current year to previous year to help you keep from forgetting something .. also nice that the "review steps" remind user of other tax saving options if possible ... Help Center is easy to use on-line, Chat personnel are helpful, and know the Turbo Tax product. E-filing though TurboTax is easy, quick & responsive throughout the filing, & IRS process! OVERALL, A GREAT TOOL TO HELP AMERICANS COMPLETE AN ANNUAL NECESSARY TASK OF FILING THEIR ANNUAL TAX STATEMENTS!
What's great about it: Been using TurboTax for at 10+ years with no problems!
What's not so great: Occasional question arise but always easy to resolve thru TurboTax "Help Center"!
