Love Turbo Tax

I've been using Turbo Tax ever since I started to accounting back in the 90's and I love the program. It is simple with the helpful guides and allows me to finish my taxes in a day.
What's great about it: Simple guides, quick to get taxes finished

Needs Some Work

It would be nice to have access to actual forms when inputting data, and trying to print at the end is frustrating with no instructions on how to get around forms selection table pop-up.
What's great about it: Intuitive inputs
What's not so great: Trouble printing, Can't view forms easily when inputting

Easy Money

Using Turbo Tax is very easy to use with the step by step process. Anyone should be able to file their taxes using Turbo Tax. I have used Turbo Tax for years and I always feel like I get the largest refund afforded. I would highly recommend using Turbo Tax for a painless tax filing experience.
What's great about it: Turbo Tax is very user friendly and a great product.

2. Couldn't get the foreign tax credit, as a credit - had to take it as a deduction. Completing the foreign tax form was too laborious.
3. Couldn't find how to use the "override" feature. In the past this was useful when the worksheet was too complicated to use. Also was useful for "simulations"; for example, finding out the tax effect of taking different IRA withdrawal amounts.

It gets better every year. I know that the tax code changes, and they have to keep up with that. But they also manage to add more features that make filing your taxes relatively easy. (Hey, if you need to use Turbo Tax, then your return is easy, is it?)

Quick and easy to use

Entered all my information for an Itemized deduction return and after all was said and done, I didn't qualify and ended up using standard deductions. A section appeared to be missing from last years Turbo Tax where it listed all my work related deductions (clothing, etc). I had to re-enter them again this year. I think the program should show you an itemized list and value of what you deducted the previous year to make it easier to add, deduct, or keep the same. Would speed up the process if set up to do that for each section. You could just transfer the line item and adjust as necessary.
What's great about it: Walked me through all the steps
What's not so great: Took awhile

I have done the return for my mother for many years.. Each year I have to find the section myself that identifies who the contact should be from the IRS. Why doesn't turbo tax include that in its questionaire section and/or roll that forward to the next year? There are other items like that, where one has to seek it out and know what they are doing to make it right in this program.
It would be helpful if the program had more information about filing an amended return.

What's not so great: didn't ask if someone else should be the contact. Poor explanation of foreign tax credit options.
