Handling of 1099-R

I spent quite a bit of time trying to get the program to recognize the difference between the 1099-R for our pensions and the 1099-R for our RMD. It kept telling me that I should have taken an RMD on our pensions. Eventually, I decided just to keep going and see what came out in the end, and that proved to be a good decision. I don't remember having this problem in previous years. I would like to see you change the program so that it handles the two types of 1099-R differently.
What's not so great: 1099-R for pension seemed to be treated as an RMD

I've been using Turbo Tax since the mid 90s and have been very pleased each time I use your software. I appreciate a flexible and easy to use software product. Keep up the good work!

Pathetic instructions on foreign tax paid.

1. Foreign tax paid on dividends---your instructions should state up front to start with the largest tax paid entry.---I had to search for reasons I couldn't e-file.
2. Before I could e-file, turbotax said an update was available & to go onlie to get the update. The online site said my turbotax was up to date but I kept getting the "update available" message. When I went back & deleted the State return, I was able to e-file.
What's great about it: automatically updates from last year
What's not so great: instructions & errorous update information.

I'd recommend it for the majority of DIY tax people. Very good for various tax situations, be careful if your situation has special cicumstances. A CPA or a long term tax preparer should be used if you have large incomes ,investments,and various businesses happening. IT can be very time consuming doing it yourself. I've been useing it for a few years now [ I have a moderately complex tax situation involving disability] and it has been workable.and successful. No audits yet!
What's great about it: well organized,thorough info, medium easy to use.
What's not so great: not for someone who has a complex tax situation.
