Great Tax Program

Turbo Tax is AWSOME!!! I have used their programs for several years. The interview questions usually prompt me for deductions that I may have overlooked at times. Thank you Intuit for a great product. I am HOOKED!!

Foreign Pension

Both my wife and I receive a pension from the UK.
It is not obvious how to report this.
I went on-line and found that we need to generate a form 1099-R but since none exists;
This results in filing forms 4852.
There are several problems with form 4852.
Box 5 Requires an address like we have in the US.
The equivalent of the US Zip code contains alphabetic characters so is rejected.
There is no such number as employers identification.
When I came to error check, my return was rejected.
I had to enter artificial and wrong entries for the above to trick TT into filing.
I recommend adding a page which asks if this is a foreign pension.

Experienced problems for the first time

For the first time while using Turbo Tax, I experienced problems relating to downloading forms and updates. Due the time zone differences and the fact that I did my return on the weekend, it took 4 days to resolve. The main reason why I use TT is to expedite the process and make things easy...which it didn't do this time. I have otherwise been happy with the product in the past.
What's great about it: on-line customer service was excellent
What's not so great: long wait time, frustrated with having to go through this

What's great about it: Made the tax season go by in a snap. Been doing TurboTax over 20 years and this was the easiest.

Great product, but pricing is confusing

I think my Pros and Cons are somewhat long winded. I like the TurboTax product very much, it helps me navigate some confusing situations. Each year something new pops up, from purchase/sale of stock, to unemployment, to small business out of the home, to handling the Schedule K-1 for a deceased family member's estate. I like the flexibility and the structure of how TurboTax walks me through the labyrinth of IRS forms and rules. What I have trouble with is the nickle-dime fees when I am not expecting them. Thinking back to when I bought the product for 2012 taxes, I realized that if I eFiled my state taxes I would be charged. But that was six months ago, and when I got to the eFile section for my submission, it still slaps me a bit that I owe an additional $20. It makes me want to find less expensive means of doing the filing, although it would be more painful for me. I am paying for convenience, and each year it slaps me when I am not ready. I could take the risk and send my return by post. I just don't trust the state processing center.
What's great about it: Good step-by-step, great ability to bounce around, excellent help along the way.
What's not so great: I paid for Federal and one state. It still bugs me to have to pay for eFile on state.

Simple and Straight Forward

I find TurboTax Deluxe to be simple to use and comprehensive. My return has an element of complexity but when I have all of my data, is easily completed with TurboTax.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: Input scenario seems to changes every year
