Deluxe version Turbo tax

I had an unusual aspect to my taxes this year and had to file a Schedule K report, and it was handled well, easily and accurately. I also had to call for help to retrieve my 2011 tax forms and when i called "Turbo" for help, I did not have to wait on hold very long, i spoke with a lady named Jamie, I could understand her very well (I have hearing aids), and she solved the problem efficiently and patiently!

My wife started drawing Social Security in February, but she didn't retire until the end of the year. This created a spike in our income and a big tax bill this year. Turbotax untangled the mess and printed all the forms we needed. I've been using Turbotax for 10 years, and can't imagine ever doing my taxes without it.
What's great about it: Turbotax calculated taxable Social Security
What's not so great: None

BEST PROGRAM ON THE MARKET

In the past I have used Tax Slayer, 1040Now, OnLine Taxes, Kiplinger, and H&R Block programs to file my and family memers' taxes. I much prefer the simple and professional Turbo Tax to get this onerous chore done every year. Not only is Turbo Tax easier and more comprehensive to use, the visual look of the program is great. The wording and presentation is large enough to see easily, graphic style doesn't confuse the eye and I don't have to hug the computer screen to read what is being asked of me. I also really like the categories format for each area to be discussed. It reminds me of items I might have forgotten to consider and makes sure I don't miss anything which would get me in trouble if I forget to include it. Turbo Tax is far and away the best program for the non-business, non-math oriented civilian to use. Plus, the online chat help is great. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it is advertised as including one Free State filing, then when I got to the actual e-file window, wanted me to submit payment for it. Not cool, not as advertised people.
What's great about it: Easiest to use, most comprehensive without bogging down in incomprehensible "financial-speak".
What's not so great: Says one Free State filing, then wants money to actually e-file the State taxes!

TurboTax 2012 proved to be as easy to use as ever. Since we received money from an estate, I had to hunt the form to enter the required info...really should be something in the Easy Guide for this one.
Had trouble printing returns with an old Canon printer...software or the printer's fault?
What's great about it: The Easy Guide covered almost everying...
What's not so great: ...except Schedule K-1 for estate receipts

It is almost fun!

Turbo Tax has taken all the administrative and logistical pain out of filing my taxes and is a great bargain for such a high quality tax preparation service. I love the feature that brings all of the relevant prior year's files forward. The electronic filing is almost magical: no fuss with mailing copies; no more lining up at the Post Office; refunds go directly to my bank; and, the IRS confirmation of receipt is a reassurance that is not otherwise avaialable. Also, choosing a date for payment of taxes due takes the uncertainty out of the process and helps me with cash flow management. I have been a big fan of Tubo Tax for years but this year I became a cheer leader because of the world class support that I received from the customer service depatment. The help provided to fix a mistakethat I had made far exceeded my expectations. Thank you for making filing taxes a task that is easy, efficient and almost fun.
What's great about it: Smooth and easy to use. The program keeps getting better every year.
What's not so great: Community help was not very helpful.

Print and review before e-file

I enter and revise as W-2s and 1099s come in, and also try different approaches as I near tipping points. TurboTax is good at that. But it did not catch one W-2 where somehow my SSN appeared as the EIN. Also my very first itemization of reimbursements for employee business expenses got disconnected from From 2106. (I applied several updates, from December to March.) The itemization was there under the "magnifying glass" and had the correct total, but the entry on on the form said zero! Luckily my review of Sched.A caught it before e-filing. I had to delete the itemization and re-type every line.
What's great about it: A spreadsheet for tax returns
What's not so great: lost itemization; missed EIN same as SSN
