Not happy about NY State credit for bioheat

I generally like using TurboTax. My biggest gripe this year was that if I wanted to claim a credit for using clean home heating fuel using New York IT-241, I would not be able to e-file. This is a big nuisance. There is a substantial list of credits that don't allow for state e-filing. They should be incorporated into TurboTax so that e-filing would be possible. Please fix for next year. This year trhe credit was small so I didn't claim it so that I could e-file. Next year, the credit will be substantial and I would like to be able to claim it and still e-file my state taxes.
What's not so great: Couldn't efile state return if I chose to use an energy credit

what happened?

I have used turbo tax for years, this year I used a mac and had constant problems starting with an upgrade to my os. when it was time to e-file I kept getting a box that said I was timed out.

My complicated tax return

This is the first year I had to deal with the complications related to owning a pipeline master limited partnership. It was challenging.
What's great about it: Turbo-tax handles 99% of my return efficiently
What's not so great: I own a pipeline Master Limiter Partnership; it's complicated

Helpful corrections

- When I go back into my return I would expect to be at the same place where I ended my last session. This doesn't always happen.
- If I go back and review a section I would expect the exact same information to be there, As it is, some of the info is the same and some needs to be re-entered. Having to re-enter can be a source of errors; I have to rethink what led me to enter to original data; I don't need that.
- If I overwrite an item on a form I would appreciate Turbo Tax explaining what effect this may have on other forms or give a warning/recommendation that this might create a problem for filing (like flag the IRS to audit).
- I like all of the little explanations for information that I enter. I would appreciate having more of them.

Easy to Use

I've used Turbo Tax for over 7 years and always found it very easy to use, clear instructions and any help I needed was readily available.
Could be a little cheaper, since I have a standing order each year and then I find it cheaper in the store. I don't know if the store bought version has the free state download & free Fed eFile. If not, then my early preorder probably is cheaper than the store one.
Keep up the good work.
What's great about it: Easy to use, help very easy to obtain. Great instructions
What's not so great: A little pricy when others are cheaper, if not free.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

10+ year user of TurboTax products. It can handle any situation I throw at it (selling of house/stocks, divorce, etc.). Would never consider using any other competitor's product.
What's great about it: Straight forward, imports from last year, easy and quick
What's not so great: Brag so much about it that friends want me to do their returns for them
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

The Turbo Tax package really points out how many 'loopholes' that are in our tax code.
A person needs a little bit of computer 'savy' to do the Turbo Tax process in preparing your tax return. I choose the longer form, but the shorter form would have surficed since I didn't have anything unusual in my return.
