was easy to use , faster than manual return , no need for forms , do not have to look up info on charts, e file is easy
What's great about it: fast , easy to use
What's not so great: import w2 did not work, charge for state e file

TurboTax - Easier to File for 2012!

TurboTax seemed to be more streamlined than in previous years. I've been using it since 2004! I finished my tax return in one sitting -- about 3 1/2 hours -- a record. I usually spend 6-8 hours filling out what I think is a simple return. I loved the simplicity of my 2012 return!
What's great about it: Easy to follow tax return. Liked Community Questions on right hand side of screen.

This is a good tax program, mainly because of not having to enter a lot of last year information. this program takes you through every thing and explaining things that is easy to understand.

Makes doing our taxes fun! Suggest adding tunes "to do taxes by."
What's great about it: Navigation; shortcut to form at bottom of every entry screen
What's not so great: not much! It seems TurboTax has made instructions very clear

The interview process is wonderful and very complete. However some of the calculation processes like taxable social security is not clear.
What's great about it: Very precise interview technique
What's not so great: Explanation of calculations hard to understand

I have been using Turbo Tax forever and this latest edition does not seem as well thought out as the past versions. The flow is not as smooth as past versions but maybe like many things it has been dumbed down for your target customer. Another thing that I would really like but may not be possible is the ability to add an explanation note or letter to the E filing. I have a managed 401 and there are management fees taken out every year. This is not a distribution but a fee and I have to paper file every year so I can include a letter from the financial adviser about this fact... It is a pain and costs me time!
What's great about it: Has all the paper work I need
What's not so great: Does not flow smoothly... too many detours
