It's good

Seems easy to use, complete and accurate. The only complaint I have is that you shouldn't have to pay for the full cost of the product again just to add another state return.
What's great about it: Quick & Easy & Covers all the bases
What's not so great: extra cost for state return

I find the program fairly user friendly, although some of the questions asked of me were a little confusing since I'm not a cpa. Since the program for state and federal is updated regularly, I wonder why I needed to call the Massachusetts Retirement Board to clarify some questions I had, that were asked on the state filling. I love the fact that basic information is directly transferred from federal to state automatically, saves a lot of time entering.
What's great about it: mostly fairly simple program to follow.
What's not so great: some of the questions they asked were a little confusing to me as a lay person of tax prep.

Almost had me

I was so happy with the deluxe 2012 product, UNTIL i began the e-file process. I had been enjoying the confidence of the continuous re-checking done by turbo tax and the repeated feel good messages. At the e-file stage, AND NOT BEFORE, there were popups telling me that box 14 on a couple of my W2s had thousand of dollars enterred instead of what I entered 128.78 and $24.24. These numbers had been skewing the results all along, and turbotax did not notice a thing...Until the seconds before efile. This was upsetting and scary. Apparently, turbo tax changed the small dollar amount entries that I made in box 14 to about a thousand times the dollar amount I had enterred. I'l like to know why
What's great about it: Up until the NJ/NY portion, and the e-file steps at the end, the program worked beautifully
What's not so great: Some of the instrucitons, not many, were written in tax jargon instead of English

Turbo Tax 2013 Review

I've used Turbo Tax for many years, it is a great product and has gotten easier to use over the years. Continued use year by year is enable by automatically transferring information from previous year. I recommend Turbo Tax to anyone wanting to do their own taxes.
What's great about it: Solid product, I've used it for many years.
What's not so great: Sometimes confusing when entering out of ordinary information.

I felt that navigation of the Q & A was lacking features.
As long as you went forward it was OK. If you needed to go back or return later to change an entry you should be able to go to only the entry you want without answering all the questions again.
If you are on a form, the option to go directly to to the entry question would be very useful.

Great But

They artax pros there is no doubt about that in my mind. The payment system is the most frustrating I hve ever used. It insists on an email address even i you do not want to give one. You can not proceed wihout proviing the email address. I purchases the state refund and could not get it to allow me to do anything with the state refund after it was paid for. I got so frustrated and gave up and came back several weeks later. It worded then. They should copy forward or ask if you want to use prior credit card informaton to payfor your returns. They get the card number for the federal filing but cant figure out how to care that into the payment screen for the state filing. They definitely need some more customer consideration when figuring out their screen presentations. The printing is so small that i take manipulation to be able to read it. There is so much white wasted space that could make things easier on those with sight problems.
What's great about it: Eaxy on te calculations
What's not so great: Not user friendly o the payment information or about havig a prior acount.

great in every way except the last step - it prints way too many worksheets "automatically" - even when I click to print only the forms needed to be filed with the IRS. It prints other sheets that I just put in the shredder. I'm trying to save paper and ink so this is an area that needs improvement. thanks for listening.
What's great about it: awesome for helping with deductions and filling out all the forms.
What's not so great: form printing!

I used to hate doing taxes. Now they take an hour, and I feel like I learn something new about my finances every time. What would happen if I put more in an IRA? ROTH vs. regular? Turbotax also keeps me posted about opportunities I wouldn't otherwise know about. Keep up the good work, Turbotax.
What's great about it: easy to use, friendly, lets me play with possibilities
