Upset, has program error and cannot get anyone to help!
What's great about it: easy to use, not sure if right??
What's not so great: kept getting error & could not get any answers from Turbo Tax or phone# to call or make any kind of contact with!

Weak at moving data forward to state form

I've been using Turbo Tax for years and complete federal, one state resident and one state non resident form. This year turbo tax improperly listed me as a resident instead of non-resident on one form and did not move the information forward showing no taxable income, no tax owed and no refund due. I knew this was in error and spent an hour correcting information and troubleshooting the problem.
Turbo Tax works great but every year there is always one problem with it, this year was a big problem.
What's great about it: Easy to use, load, update
What's not so great: Difficulty with State non-resident form

The main reason I like to use Turbo Tax is that it allows me to be in control of working through the tax processes myself. There's no imtimidation factor. When it comes to deductions, I've been more thorough to save all my information because I know with Turbo Tax I can take my time and include every single item or chariable contribution donated. It really makes a difference to increase your refund!
What's great about it: Easy, thorough
What's not so great: So many questions...whew!

Turbotax is, and has been, my choice for tax preparations for many years. I have never had any problems with my filings. So naturally I keep on coming back :-)

Problem with handling IRA after-tax funds

I have used Turbo-Tax for years and it has always been satisfactory until this year. In 2012 I retired and took some funds out of my IRA. These funds were after tax dollars I had contributed in 1993 to 1997 but for which I did not take a deduction on my income taxes for those years, so the distribution was non-taxable when I took it out in 2012. I followed the directions and Turbo Tax had me enter an explanation. Everything was ok until I tried to transmit the file and I couldn't, I kept getting in a do-loop that asked me to make changes to worksheets or forms. I made the changes and still couldn't transmit the file. Finally I blindly put in numbers the software told me to that made no sense and which say I still have a carryover basis for after tax funds in my IRA, which I don't, but I did what the screen said and the file finally was transmitted. I ended up getting about $200 less than I should have but I was so frustrated and ticked off that I said the heck with it and sent the file in with the lower return just to get it over with. Turbo Tax needs to make it easier and transparent to show distributions of non-deductible contributions to IRAs. This was very debilitating.
What's great about it: Thorough
What's not so great: Very difficult to handle non-taxable IRA distributions, not sure if results are correct.
