Made me feel smart

Wow! Even I can do this! Year after year Turbo Tax allows me to prepare our taxes smoothly and efficiently. Plus, each year gets easier as I import my info from the year before. Thanks Turbo Tax. You make me feel smart.

I've used TurboTax every year since it first came out for the Apple II lo these many years ago. It just works.

It was iriitating when I had bought a different tax progam and it would save to a pdf file on the computer and not print out the tax forms. It became more iritating when I spent the money for this program and was still unable to print the tax forms. I like to keep hard copies because the computers like to crash. If it wasn't for that I would be fine.

Handling of State return

I like TurboTax better than the other tax prep packages I have used. And it seemed this year that the program does a better job of allowing me to see the forms behind each entry in the federal forms: nice work!
I filed my federal 1040 electronically using the Deluxe included efile by indicating that I wanted to efile the 1040 and mail my state return later. But after that, in order to get TurboTax to let me prepare my state (MA Form 1) for mailing, I had to restart the whole filing process indicating that I wanted to MAIL both of my returns; only then did TurboTax note that I had already efiled my 1040 and allow me to prepare the Form 1 package for mailing.
Since Massachusetts has a web-based system for filing our state taxes for free, I tried out that system after completing the Turbotax for MA. Unfortunately I had no way of transferring all of my Turbotax info electronically, so I had to reenter the information (W2s, !099s, 1098s). The result was a higher tax due: it appeared to be from different handling of interest and dividend income.
As nice a job as you do in allowing me to see the source of numbers by clicking on them, it would also be nice to see where in the EasyStep interview those numbers came from. I suspect that would be a lot harder and am pretty happy with what you do provide.
It's annoying that TurboTax doesn't include efile for my state. With my state's web-based system, there should be some way for you to produce a data file that could be transferred to their system.
What's great about it: Easily transferred all of the data from 1040 last year and from 1040 this year to state.
What's not so great: I had to trick TurboTax into preparing my state package for mailing after efiling my federal return.

This is like taxes for dummies.
It's so easy to use that you think that you must be doing something wrong.
If you can read, you can do your taxes. Just follow the on screen directions and enter the information that it asks for and TA DA its done.
That easy.
