Huge Time Saver

I have used TurboTax & Quicken since the early 90's. I can usually get my taxes done in about an hour. I don't import quicken data to TurboTax, but rather, print reports in Quicken and hand enter the results in TurboTax. Prior to using TurboTax, I did my taxes totally by hand, for both personal and business. This would sometimes take me as long as 40 hours!!! Now, I would not do taxes any other way than with TurboTax (unless the US goes to a flat tax, in which case I would consider doing it by hand again!).
What's great about it: Gets the job of taxes done quickly

Taxes Made Easier

I have used Turbo Tax for several years now and I am completely hooked on it. I feel very secure using this program because of the explanations and guides that are available. I plan to continue using this program in the years to come.
What's great about it: The program guides me through every step so that I don't miss something important
What's not so great: If you have to back up for any reason, you have to re-enter all the information
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Disappointed with the purchase of Savings Bond,
on March 16, 2013
Posted by: Jasm
I wanted to purchase $300 of U.S. Series I Saving Bond but the TurboTax software is not set up were its understandable. I ended purchasing a total of $600.00. My $300.00 of saving bond was to have 2 beneficiaries but the software didn't let me do that, I had to include an amount of $150 for each beneficiary. This caused to purchase $600, this was NOT what I wanted. How can I re-due the purchase of the bond? I just want $300.00 of saving bond.
What's not so great: U.S. Series I Saving Bond Purchase was NOT clear, It made me purchase 2 extra, disappointed:(

I was encouraged by my experience using Turbotax last year in CA, splitting my community property income with my RDP.
This year, we moved to OH, a state which does not recognize the RDP.
Where Turbotax guides you through the community property worksheet (form 8958) when you live in CA, if you don't, it does not - even if you lived in CA part of the year. A great CSR helped me access the form using the Forms view. It would be nice if there was an easier way, but it does work.
However, when I was filling out the City Tax form for OH, I had quite a bit of trouble filling out the Schedule R information. Since I'm a new resident, I wasn't familiar with this system of taxes, so it was quite obvious to me that the instructions were quite lacking. This is the only complaint I had.
What's great about it: Allowed me to account for splitting income earned in a community property state with my RDP
What's not so great: Needs better instructions for Ohio city tax schedule R
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved
