Something Very Wrong

I entered the Federal and State income taxes that were withheld when I entered my 1099 information. TurboTax did not pick up the State entries and so decided that I should take the standard deduction rather than itemize. I am still trying to figure out how to get the State tax that was withheld recognized by TurboTax so it will be used it to itemize. I can see that the State tax WAS entered along with the other 1099 information. Until I can get that done, TurboTax is useless to me and I will have to look elsewhere for a program to do my taxes.
What's great about it: Held my hand throughout process
What's not so great: Did not automatically enter state taxes paid from W2 entries

Turbo Tax was extremely easy to use. It guided me every step of the way. I would recommend it for anyone who does not have overly complicated taxes.
What's great about it: Very user friendly

TT Has Come a Long Way !!

I experienced a carry-forward error from my 2009 Turbo-Tax submittal that resulted in my refund jumping from $250 to about $60,000 !! Well, after tracing the problem back through 5 years of returns, the experience was useful because it made me realize how much better the User Interface for TT has gotten since 2008. Although I confirmed that the refund to which I'd be entitled to this year really was only $250 (and that none of the prior year returns needed amending), I was pleased to see how far TT has been fine-tuned through the years. It was a little choppy to e-file the Fed return while paper filing the State (had to re-navigate some menus). But all else aside, a good overall experience.
What's great about it: Overall ease of use
What's not so great: AMT carryforward error from 2009

Awesome software, Makes tax preparation and filing a breeze.
What's not so great: $19.99 for e-filing of state return. My refund back was less than $100.

Overall, I'm very impressed with Turbo Tax. Having done taxes in the past without Turbo Tax, I was taken aback by the numerous special forms required to do my taxes. After guiding a user by asking the appropriate questions, Turbo Tax automatically inputs the data onto the required forms. This has saved me a lot of researching. I also like the way Turbo tax allows the user to take fairly complicated data from financial/banking institutions and import that all into the proper tax forms. In addition, Turbo Tax remembers my name and various particulars regarding my family from previous years. Makes filling out data quicker and less tedious.
What's great about it: Guides a person through potentially complicated tax preparation very easily.
What's not so great: One area a little tricky for me asked for a state ID. Not clear was only seeking the regular state abbreviation.

I have ysed Turbo Tax for at least ten years and will do so for the next ten if they don't do something silly and make things more difficult. This is a product anyone with common sense can use and be sure they are doing it right. I have been audited twice and found everything to be in order.
What's great about it: Walks through all items and reminds you of special items.
What's not so great: Just takes a while to load on my old XP computer.
