2012 Turbo Tax Review

I had to get assistance from Turbo Tax with the CD I purchased and get a new copy downloaded since the CD would not let me completely install the updates. The downloaded version worked ok until I started to file. It would not transmit until I installed a recent update. Got the same message, had to reinstall another copy, delete the previous application in order to file. To say you have BUGS in this product is an understatement. I had to do the same thing last year. VERY, VERY, VERY disappointed again with this product. I have used this product for the past 7 years but have had enough. You need to spend less time on advertising your product and producing one that works without this ongoing hassle every year.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: Extremely difficult to extract the archive for updates

Other years all was straight forward. I had 1 quirk this time: Turbotax asks for state of exempt interest dividends, but 1099-div has box 12 blank. Error check catches it but doesn't explain that you can choose "multiple states" the first time you did it, nor does it let you enter "multiple states" during the error correction portion. So you get in a loop & can't get out. It was frustrating. Forums didn't help, because by the time you find the issue (during error check) you only get option to enter the 2 digit state code, not the multiple states option that was previously available in a pull down box. It would have helped if the 1099-DIV had said multiple states, so at least I may have tried to research more.

no matter what i enter it give me an error message.
Not sure this is working correctly

Federal good, Mississippi state bad

The federal portion was as good as ever.
The Mississipi form took days because the Income/Withholding tax Schedule and associated Form 80-108's had extra blank fields that I could not get to go away. I had repeated error checking codes.
I tried deleting all interest and dividends from the federal to start over, and I even created an entirely new tax file and started over from scratch to no avail.
Because of this, I could note-file my state. This is very, very frustrating.
What's great about it: Federal import easy, qualified dividend calc easy
What's not so great: Mississippi state 80-108 failed to populate correctly
