So easy a monkey could do it

I trained my monkey to do my taxes. He will filing for me next year. Way to go Turbo Tax!
What's great about it: fast, easy, checked errors for me, made suggestions, explained deductions clearly
What's not so great: Who really enjoys doing their taxes?
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Least Painful Tax Time

Highly organized process by Turbo Tax simplifies thousands of pages of Tax Code that most non-tax expert humans find impossible into a reasonable series of questions. The best example of technology benefitting society in dealing with a difficult task - that gets more challenging every year .
What's great about it: Follow few step by step questions - that only apply to you (of possible thousands).
What's not so great: Need to wait for updates until mid March (minimum)

I have been use Turbo Tax since it first came out and you could not print the forms. I would print the numbers and
make a transparency of the IRS forms put it on the copier
and print in order to mail.

Can't Go Back

TurboTax added info in error and I had great difficulty correcting. I used TT Chat and was on the chat line for a very long time which involved 3 "helpers". The last person I chatted with gave me some hints that later helped me correct the mistake. However, she also gave me some incorrect information relative to IRAs which meant that she was not "an expert". I've used Turbo Tax for years and this years Deluxe version is confusing if you try to go back and forth at all. Think it is a plot to get you to buy the next version up!
What's great about it: Easy of Entering info
What's not so great: Difficult to go back to change info

2012 Fed income tax

I have a long list of Tax deductible contributions and many of them are carried forward from last year, which is very good. It would be much better, however, if Turbo Tax would sort these organizations alphabetically, since I keep my giving records on an Excel spreadsheet, and it is sorted alphabetically.
What's great about it: Works VERY well

I have used Turbo Tax for nearly 20 years and except for minor changes over the years it has always been simple. This year (my third with an IMac) was wrought with troubles beginning with attempting to update Turbo Tax.
I was ready to call it quits but Turbo Tax personnel came to the rescue and helped me get the necessary updates.
Thanks Turbo Tax.
What's great about it: Progressing through the procedure (recommended) was a breeze.
What's not so great: Updating the program was a real chore with my IMac. I had to seek help.

This is an amazing program. Been doing my own for several years and love it. My confidence to be able to do this has been boosted. And good golly do I hate math. :)
