Cumbersome
on March 14, 2013
Posted by: Anonymous
There are too many repetitive screens to click through. It is a bit of a slog.
Had to remove auto import of form 1098 and manually update.
Michigan handling of retirement income required work around to qualify for proper taxation.
Schedule A should not be included with filing when standard deductions are more advantageous. They should be available on PDF saved forms only.
What's great about it: Calculation worksheets done well/ error checking well done
What's not so great: Tedious
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Some improvement over last year, but still difficult to make corrections or go back to input omissions. There was no prompt for all lines in Oklahoma Schedule 511-C and going to forms still did not allow entry in line 4, Interest qualifying for exclusion. I prefer to print a copy for review before going to "File", but then I have no bank account numbers for direct deposit shown.

Error in creating 8582
on March 14, 2013
Posted by: Anonymous
Due to the 2012 generating a Form 8582, my refund was held up for multiple weeks. If the Form 8582 had not been created due to software error, I would have had my refund deposited within a week or two at most.
What's great about it: Works fine for everything in the past ... easy to use.
What's not so great: 2012 software created Form 8582 that was not needed

I've been using TurboTax for several years. It's a great convenience to have required information already in the computer and then transferred to the new return.
What's great about it: User friendly, comprehensive
